b makowsky slouch boots

I bought the B Makowsky slouch boots that were a TSV a month or so ago. Do you think it is ok to treat these with a spray type of protector? (or do you think this will do something to the soft leather.) I posted a question about these boots a couple of days ago, with no answers, but I'll try again. If anyone has purchased these boots and have worn them a bit, do they seem to be holding up o.k.? Just curious because it is alot more than I ever spend, but I just really like them.
