Wearing heels with a casual outfit like that does not make it a dressy, wedding appropriate outfit.  Unless, you are Peg Bundy..

This dress I wore to work would also work for an informal wedding easily.

I work in the fashion industry and am a stylist.

The tunic has slits that are very high, and wearing leggings underneath would be pushing it, even for a quick trip to the grocery store. (Yes, as @chrystaltree said, Peg Bundy!)

On top of that, the choice of black in that tunic to wear to a wedding feels depressing to me, even if the wedding is at the beach or in a very casual place. I think that tunic is so casual that I would wear it to go out for pizza, but not to a wedding.

My suggestion if you are committed to that tunic in black is to pair it with dressier long pants or a skirt in a seasonal (lighter, if the wedding is in spring or summer) color. Perhaps white pants, and you could wear black and white jewelry or colorful jewelry (but don't load it on).

Depending on your body shape, the pants can have wide legs or skinny legs. Even with dressier pants underneath, I think the tunic design and material are so casual that wearing heels with it would not look too good. I'd stick to flats or low heels.

I don't know how old you are or how casual/dressy the wedding is, but if you want to go casual, there are very attractive long skirts out there and outfits that will look fresh (and not "mother of the bride").

I think @lolakimono could weigh in on this and whip up an outfit for you in a couple of minutes!

@meezercats  I don't think leggings are appropriate unless the wedding reception is like a backyard picnic (meaning very, very casual).  You could  do a nice part of pants and a blouse or blouse tunic length.

Depends on where you live and how old you are.

I've been to weddings of nieces and nephews  where guests wore all sorts of things.

I like the style of the tunic ... but probably I'd wear it with wide leg black pants.   (I'm really old!)

I personally don't think leggings would be approprate .... but then, I never wear leggings.

@ALRATIBA

I agree! And from a younger perspective. I don't know if I'd do black on the bottom as it is a wedding but I like the idea of something wide and flowy on the bottom. Floral legging just doesn't say wedding to me

Thanks to everyone for your opinion and suggestions. I'm going to wear a dress instead and save the tunic and leggings for a more casual event.

Floral leggings? with heels? You lost me right there.

Never, and certainly not to a wedding, regardless of how casual.

IMHO, this outfit is not flattering. I like the shrug but that dress is not attractive. It looks like a house dress. So two thumbs down on this outfit.
