Re: YOUR MOST NOT WANTED GIFT

My mother in law used to give us stuff from Finger Hut and Lilian Vernon.  While they do have some nice stuff in the magazines.  She always seemed to find the tackist stuff to give.   We used to just donate it once we got home.

I also agree PJ's. I don't wear PJ's (T-shirt).  I

Socks.  I don't wear socks.  It has to be -30F out for me to put socks on.

Re: YOUR MOST NOT WANTED GIFT

A thing that I do to avoid any awkward moments when giving an unexpected gift, is that I do it anonymously. I'm about to leave a little gift bag on my good friend's porch for her birthday. With something that when I saw it I said that is SO Gracie. This way she can enjoy using it (hopefully) without feeling like she has to reciprocate on my birthday.

@chrystaltree   I feel that way about holiday themed sweaters/sweatshirts. The ones for Halloween or Christmas or Hanukkah can be worn for a  few weeks a year and then done.

So.. I was a long time member of a Sweet Adelines chorus. At our annual Christmas party, most of us exchanged gifts. My friend Jen was one of the few if not the only person to spend extra time outside of chorus functions with Sharon (high functioning Asperger's, zero social skills, OCD, took everything literally, rigid about rules etc ) Anyhow, Jen had always liked little goat toys and figurines. Had a few. Sharon knew this. At our party where we were giving each other blingy accessories, holiday ornaments etc., Sharon presented Jen with a living room wall sized blown up photo of herself (Sharon) standing in a barnyard next to a goat. It was already framed and ready for hanging. When I saw it I nearly fell over. Jen was so gracious, many thanks, how very thoughtful. Problem was that she had often invited Sharon to her home. Sharon said she couldn't wait to see the photo in the living room. It was SO BIG. HUGE.

Jen's plan was to keep it hidden but accessible if the need to suddenly hang it arose.
Bless Sharon- she did have a warm heart and a generous spirit.

@smoochy   LOL. My parents had a formal portrait taken for their 50th anniverary and had huge ones for  children/grandchildren to hang in a prominent spot. Luckily I had an upstairs hallway near their guest room, so I rarely had to see it unless cleaning upstairs. It's not that I didn't love them dearly, but would have much preferred a 5X7 even an 8X10 to put on a shelf.
