Winter Clearance

[ Edited ]

Why doesn't Q give the deep clearance clothing prices that major retailers do?  Just saw a SG winter sweater that is not even discounted.  Talbots has quality I believe to be in line with the Susan Graver line and they are having up to 70% off winter clothing. Many $89. sweaters are down to $29.-$39.00  Doesn't the Q  want to clear inventory like other retailers?  I never could understand this.  Q clearance takes off a few dollars and call it clearance.

As long as people continue to shop at the Q, they will have no reason to change their pricing. They are achieving their goal of making lots of $$$.

@Catch71   This is Q's norm. They take off 20%, offer easy pay (as a "sale") and then tack on $5.50 shipping...No sale for me. I shop elsewhere except for brands that are on QVC only...very few that fall in that category.

Most sites do not charge shipping on clearance or other merchandise, for that matter. Times are not great for retailers. They want to move out inventory any way they can.

@RetRN   They may have some "captive buyers" because of Covid, but don't be so sure they're making that much money. If they were selling that much, why has all this inventory, in all categories, been on "clearance" for so many months?

Exactly! I don't see much of a winter clearance on the Q either. There used to be real blow out prices, but not lately. This is the time to buy winter clothes for next season.

I don’t know if QVC will ever change.

I make out very well buying from Talbots.  Granted, I am retired and not looking for an entire wardrobe for work, but I like to invest in timeless pieces for when we again go out and about.  I do get gift certificates for Talbots as gifts, and just received two beautiful jackets, one plain boiled wool and another a blue plaid wool blazer for $100 for the two.  Part of their Red Hanger sale.

The day will come when we senior folks can go out and about, and I will get much use from these jackets.

I love the boiled wool; it keeps one so toasty warm on frigid days.

Wow. what good buys you got, enjoy!

I totally agree!!!!   I have been thinking this for a long time.  I find really great BARGAINS on line when I look elsewhere.

It's only been the last few years they have ANY KIND of sale or clearance, other than year end stuff.   Otherwise, sales were few and far between, and as for clearance shows, forget it.

I can't remember if it was the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020 when they did the sale where you weren't able to return anything because the prices were actually very low. I'm wondering why they didn't do that again? I bought a few pieces for under $15!

As for the shopping channels touting their pay overtime option a lot of vendors are offering that now and even PayPal. They are starting to run out of real incentives to shop for clothing here
