Yes, the earrings are Diana's, as seen in the photo above.  And the dress is Alexander McQueen.  From People online:

 

"For the event, Kate, 37, wore a white asymmetrical Alexander McQueen dress with floral embellishments on her left shoulder. She paired the elegant gown with a white clutch, a diamond bracelet and a pair of her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s pearl and silver earrings. Diana wore the earrings in 1995 while accepting the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the United Celebral Palsy Foundation."

So then the iconic pearl/diamond earrings are from Diana's personal collection not from the royal family's collection.  Well, doesn't Diana have fabulous, timeless taste in amazing jewelry that her successors will enjoy wearing for decades to come!  Bravo for her!

@Good4u  I read that Diana's earrings might have been a gift from a Middle Eastern Amir. Don't know if that's true or not.
