Will and Kate in Ireland

[ Edited ]

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Dublin for the start of their visit to Ireland.

Will and Kate flew to Dublin Airport on a commercial Aer Lingus flight.

The pair are both wearing green in homage to Ireland’s national color with the duchess looking stylish in an emerald green Catherine Walker coat and an Alessandra Rich dress, accessorised with a trendy black Prada headband.

Will is dressed in a dapper navy suit with a green tie that compliments his wife’s dress coat.

Waiting to greet them at the bottom of the plane’s steps was a small group of dignitaries led by Britain’s Ambassador to Ireland Robin Barnett.

The couple will reportedly not be shaking hands with the gathered welcoming of fans on this occasion.

Re: Will and Kate in Ireland

They're both very good ambassadors for the UK.

I wonder if Ireland would be upset if they didn't wear green.  They always do on such visits ... but it seems a bit clichéd.

In brilliant winter sunshine they walked down the aircraft’s steps and were greeted by a small group of dignitaries led by Britain’s Ambassador to Ireland Robin Barnett

The couple are making their first visit to Ireland with the Government hoping the trip will help smooth over Brexit-related tensions

The duke and duchess - seen arriving at the airport - will also meet Ireland's President Michael D Higgins and the Taoiseach, or prime minister, Leo Varadkar

Since it was a commercial flight, I wonder if William and Kate disembark before or after the rest of the passengers.  I suppose they go last to avoid inconveniencing others, who may have to make connections etc.

Good idea to dispense with the usual hand-shaking.  Though it was probably alright for William to connect with Robin, the British ambassador.

Those heels!  How does anyone walk in such things.  Of course, Kate's as light as a bird but otherwise the heels would have to be made of titanium.
