Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

Isn't that the truth?  I am on an endless quest for 3/4 length for summer.  Even I don't want to see what is going on.

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

My guess would be that we see so many sleeveless dresses because they are less expensive to make. A sleevless dress takes less fabric and time to make. They can also sell us something else to put over it. LOL

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

My guess is that manufacturers think sleeveless is more "versatile", as well as made for hot weather.

I guess the best thing to do is to have some very cute shrugs, light weight sweaters and little jackets or blazers to wear over a sleeveless dress.   .   That will be easier to pull off than making manufacturers doing something else!

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

I think this dress from Ann Taylor would be a great choice for graduation or early afternoon  wedding.

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

Having lost almost 150 lbs at age 49 (was fat my whole life) my arms are a lost cause. I work out, eat right, and still the loose skin just mocks me,LOL. I don't want  get the surgery to tighten the skin.  I am constantly searching for elbow sleeves. Luckily I am a very bohemian woman  and wear a lot of flowy tops. But I can't go "Boho" all the time. A girl needs some sleeves!!!!

@birkin baby

Congratulations!!! Bravo! (standing ovation)

I love sleeveless tops and tanks; they're kind of my uniform but at nearly 56 I'm definitely losing the definition in my upper arms. I've purchased the spingym and the Marie Osmond contraption.

Both work well but when that string snaps (spingym) it's impossible to replace with the extra one they provide!!! I need to purchase a second body gym because my husband keeps threatening to take it with him on the road!

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

I so completely agree!  The fashion designers have forgotten us mature women who are still very attractive!  I search and search for dresses and tops with sleeves!  I can get away with short sleeves more in the summer if I use a self tanner on my arms!  Same with my legs if I want to wear bermuda shorts while on vacation etc.!  It seems to help some!  I tell myself to just keep my elbows in close to my waist and hopefully I won't have to reach for anything high!Woman LOL

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

I agree.  After years of losing and gaining weight, my upper arms are my worst feature.  If I find a dress with sleeves, it is usually much too short.  I was looking at some beautiful Lily Pullitzer dresses with 3/4 sleeves, but they were so short.  I would love to find a beautiful Lily Pullitzer printed dress, 3/4 sleeves, with the length at least to my knees...but I don't think they make it.

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

Totally hear ya, OP. I am young and fairly slender, but I still find my upper arms to be the most flabby, unattractive part of my body. I really don't understand why so many clothes show off an area that's notoriously hard for women to tone (and it's also not a pretty, feminine part of the body).

Re: Why sleeveless dresses only?

Even some of the short sleeves are not wearable.  We want elbow or 3/4 sleeves.
