@KingstonsMom The Unemployment Insurance supplement ends today. Maybe some people who've been on "vacation" will now get back to work. It's been rough on the labor market in my state.

I've received every single one of the many orders I placed. Some took longer than I'd hoped to get to me but they've all eventually arrived. It's okay as there certainly was no urgency. Some days felt like Christmas. The longer the shipping time, the more exciting the anticipation.

It has been in my area too, many businesses have had to close down.
Even our McD's is only open about 4 hours per day, due to lack of workers.
Businesses in some states have started to advertise that they will hire 14-15 year olds from what I've been reading.

@KingstonsMom There are child labor laws that exclude 14 and 15 year olds during the school year. We do have even restaurants offering "signing bonuses" to start a job. I suppose they have to remain employed for 90 days or similar.

I think the latest blip on the shipping issues for me is that tracking is not available for some items. How do we even know that the items were shipped? I normally get an email from both QVC and UPS but never received the UPS email. How long do we wait before asking for a refund?

@Linmo I think that this is what I am really asking about. QVC usually tracks the package closely. I have been frustrating recently because there is no tracking information on my four current active orders. Nothing. That is what I have seen that is different to me and why I was asking about shipping. I am aware of the pandemic and all relevant news issues.

@Kachina624 The Wall Street Journal, a conservative pro-business publication, has reported that the extended supplement unemployment benefits offered in some of the states had no significant impact in employment. It is easy to see, comparing payrolls in states that ended benefits early, with those that didn't.
The factors believed to be prompting people to stay at home instead of returning to work are family-care responsibilities, school closures, mismatch of available jobs and worker location and skills, fear of Covid-19 and employee retirements. According to the WSJ (which interviewed economists with diverse backgrounds) "Those problems have caused many workers to drop out of the workforce and others to take longer to hunt for jobs. The labor market’s recovery will depend on whether these factors ease, reverse or persist, an outlook clouded by the recent rise in Covid-19 infections and hospitalizations driven by the Delta variant of the virus".
So terminating the supplement early merely punished people under tremendous stress.

@NYCLatinaMe I vehemently disagree. Take my state, NM, for instance which ended the supplement yesterday. We have an unemployment rate of 7.6% which was, until one state beat us last month, the highest in the nation.
Employers are having a fit because people won't even apply for jobs. The state, from covid funds, even offered a reward of $1,000 if people would accept and work on a job for 90 days. Few takers. Now employers are offering "signing bonuses" even on the most menial jobs.
Businesses have closed or reduced hours drastically because they can't get help, even Walmart. Amazon is opening a distribution center here and needs to hire 1,000 employees. People laughed, Amazon wept as it's not happening. Employers all over the country report similar problems.
Unemployment benefits were never meant to subsidize living expenses. The program was designed to provide job-hunting expenses. Now people expect it to be enough to maintain their standard of living.... or more.
There is a job available for every able-bodied person who wants to work. It may not be his dream job but it'll buy groceries.

I think the bottom line, people just don't want to work.with un employment checks going out who wants to work.I really am thinking twice about ordering here, unless I really need the item.Amazon has drivers all over the country they deliver very fast.
