Why do they show the models wearing items that are not in the show?

Is that a trick question? Or, perhaps a riddle?

Re: Why do they show the models wearing items that are not in the show?

Guess I rarely buy clothes anywhere, so I didn't know this was the regular MO of QVC.

Like going into a gift shop and all the cool items have NFS (not for sale) tags on 'em.

{#emotions_dlg.laugh}How long have you been a Q viewer? I'm not being snarky, just wondering how long you've been watching......because this has been going on for years and years. This happens frequently, they also promote shows like PMStyle and the Lisa Robertson show, with her wearing clothing that is hers and not sold on her shows.

Leah, the AMStyle host, has regularly shown up on air hosting the show for several hours, in clothing that isn't sold in the show. It's a bit comical now.....posters joke that if you see something fantastic on the hosts or models, it simply can't be a Q clothing item and tough luck if you want to purchase it.

They regularly have the models wearing clothing during fashion shows that isn't available.

IMO this is a dreadful mistake on Q's part....from a sales standpoint. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that if a viewer sees a piece of clothing on a model or host, and they like it enough to call in and want to buy it, that Q is losing money if that clothing is not available for that customer to purchase. For whatever reason.....Q doesn't care about this issue and allows the practice to continue.

Amp, this post demands another look. I have for so long complained that the hosts should not be wearing expensive clothing while presenting Q items. To me, no one cares, and yet here we are again. Same subject. Your frustration with the Q echoes my frustration too. There are so many easy ways for them to make more money. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

Re: Why do they show the models wearing items that are not in the show?

I posted in jamaicajammer's this other thread. Twice this happened to me in one week. One item a designers Rep was wearing, I emailed the CS at the designer with no response, called the Q which I have never done and finally the host of the show replied saying "the item was the Reps own". I really liked the garment and wanted it that's why I went on hoping to get an item number. I was very disappointed that it wasn't a Q item but I was really surprised that they didn't mind sharing that it wasn't the designers. The item was very nice and probably high end.

I've called and asked about clothing items to be told it belongs to the person. I don't understand why QVC would want to advertise another person's clothing.

That's what they are doing. It doesn't make sense. Air time is expensive. It is frustrating but I don't ask any more.

Re: Why do they show the models wearing items that are not in the show?

When my son was in high school, he got a job at one of the very popular clothing stores in our local mall. He was required to purchase (at a discount) the store's clothing and wear it to work. He is tall and wears his clothes well. People came into the store, asked what he was wearing, and he could show them. If we watch QVC for the possibility of purchasing their clothing, you would think that their sales representatives would be wearing that clothing. Also, if they show an item on an on air commercial or their website, you would expect that the item would be readily available and easy to fine. Not always so.

HSN usually has this info available. They even run a crawl that says Shop the Show with item numbers.

Re: Why do they show the models wearing items that are not in the show?

Models don't have to sell what they are wearing

if it is not the brand that they are featuring.

I don't expect models on Q to sell clothes

that they wear to show off a top that they

are selling or a top if they are selling pants.

The same thing goes for the hosts as well.

It doesn't bother me one bit if models

are wearing something that is not for sale on Q.
