Why do they keep deleting the new?

Louis of Linea posts sneak peeks all the time (on his blog) as he is smart and knows its good for business. Why does QVC not get it? What is the harm of building some anticipation and seeing what new items are coming soon?!

Re: Why do they keep deleting the new?

It makes no sense to me that QVC would delete what is essentially free advertising for them that will increase sales. People who see that info sometimes make a note to buy a particular item. If they don't know about it, they might buy something elsewhere and then not have the budget to buy that item.

It's crazy........Q lets long threads go on about the other shopping channel's products and posts about sales on other sites but pulls information about its own merchandise -Linea!

Maybe Q should offer advance purchase option for certain products. They offer on line only for some LOGO and for Linea jewelry.

They don't want the items sold out before the show airs. This kind of thing has gone on with shopping channels for years- with ALL vendors.

Doesn't LDO preview all his stuff on his own website?

That's exactly it. Plus inventory changes according to manufacturing timetable.

Anyone in Retail will say...
It's better to Under Promise and Over Deliver

Re: Why do they keep deleting the new?

The "sold out" idea holds no water. Besides, godfreako posts many lines, not just Linea, and yes, Louis does preview the items. Most of the time they are not yet available anyway, so there is nothing to sell out.

Other retailers preview collections all the time (from the highest end designers to H&M, Target, etc.) and anyone in retail will say sell outs are the goal and anything goes to avoid not undersold excess inventory.

Re: Why do they keep deleting the new?

So 15 minutes into an hour-long show, if everything's sold out...

How do they rearrange their programming?
Which connects to the ordering.
Which connects to the inventory of other items.
Which connects to up scheduled shipping.
Which ends up here w/ a thread title of "QVC Shipping is Horrible"...with 3 pages of same complaints.

See? Under Promise & Over Deliver.

This business is a little more complicated than what's on your TV screen.

Oh, you mean like the quick sell outs last night on Lisa's show. They spend 15 minutes selling fragrance, or hair straighteners, etc. There will always be complaints, no matter what, but the bottom line is sell, sell, sell! Simple or complicated, it s about the sale - on screen and off.

The GILI line is always previewed on facebook with special links to purchase before it is available on QVC.

Re: Why do they keep deleting the new?

"the boat from China" might not show up

"the product from China" may not pass Q's high quality standards

"the item from China" may not have made it on the container that is coming from China

all sorts of reasons, unless it's in the warehouse and someone opened the boxes to inspect what was shipped, I wouldn't presell or showcase it either.

In the business I'm in, I get a jacket catalog from a manufacturer in January and show it to my customers for preorders, do you know that 1/2 of what is shown in the catalog is never produced even though an item may have a sample piece on a model. This makes people very mad, disappointed, and overall frustrated.
