Why are some questions UNANSWERED or IGNORED?

I haven't been here on the forums on a daily basis, but I notice that some people post a question and immediately 500 people respond. Other questions get 1000 views and NOT A SINGLE FLIPPIN' RESPONSE!

Why exactly would someone ask a question if they did not want an answer?
