I checked on line and just wondered why Joan never got the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor? I know Ellen and Carol Burnett were recent recipients, but it appears that Joan never did receive the honor.

She was a trailblazer for female comics, so it surprises me she was never acknowledged. I don't think she ever won the the Kennedy Center Honors either.

She should have been honored at some point.

That is given by fans who nominate her and raise money. I'm talking about an industry award from her peers.

Phyllis Diller, who preceded Joan, didn't get the Mark Twain Award. Some great comics, such as Mel Brooks and Robin Williams, didn't receive it. It's not given by "peers". It's given by the Kennedy Center.

Just my opinion, she and the others mentioned should have received one.

What about Gilda Radner, Lucille Ball, Whoopie Goldberg, Paula Poundstone, Lily Tomlin, Roseanne Barr, etc. ?

Also Redd Fox, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bob Hope, Lenny Bruce, Jerry Seinfeld,etc.?

Lily and Whoopie both received the Mark Twain Award. Gilda and Lucy died long before the award was created.

Every star on Hollywood Blvd. had to be BOUGHT by the celebrity ? I thought they were honorary.
