The thread was asking who Joan's adopted daughter is so obviously the OP knew who Joan was. The picture clearly shows Mariah Carey and even states below the picture that Mariah and her twins were visiting Joan. Therefore, the mystery was solved regarding the OP's question.

Joan is a designer on HSN whose trademark is really oversized tinted glasses. She always wears her hair severely pulled back. She sells some clothing, slippers, shoes and other accessories but a lot of blingy jewelry. Everything she sells is blinged up.

She has a high-end store in Aspen.

The word is being used as a figure of speech. They probably have become close because through the shopping. At the bottom picture, it clearly says, "visit Carey's friend Joan Boyce's jewelry store"
