Who has the best faux fur line?

I know that Dennis Basso, Pamela McCoy and Donna Salyers all have very high reviews for their faux furs, but if you know these lines, who has the better product, the better quality? There are others out there, but these are the three that I see all the time.

Re: Who has the best faux fur line?

I think you would be satisfied with a faux fur from Dennis Basso, Pamela McCoy. or Donna Salyers.  You can also add Adrian Landau (who appears on HSN) to the list.  I think for a purchasing desicion you should set your price range.  Then you should figure out if you want full length or jacket; traditional natural fur color or one of the funky dyed shades; long pelt or sheared.  These are the things which will help you when browsing because you wil be able to get an idea of what is available within your criterias.  Of course you might end up compromising on color, length or some other feature, but don't bend on the price.

Donna Salyers website has a lot more styles than what she brings to Evine.  I recommend browsing her site even if you buy elsewhere.  Her site really is a great showing of what can be done with faux fur.  I personally have owned faux fur from all of the above and have have never been disappointed. However, if pressed to choose one over the other I might have to go with Pam McCoy because I love the Tissavel faux fur fabric she uses for some of her coats.  From the perspective of my personal style, Basso may be my least favorite. Reason being his QVC collection features so many jackets and very few full length coats. I live in a cold weather climate and short jackets just don't do it for me when wind chills are -10.

If you live in very cold climate, sheared fur is less warm than full pelted.

Re: Who has the best faux fur line?

I too own faux fur from all of them including Adrienne Landau (I forgot about her).  I recently brought a faux fur hat from Donna Salyers my first purchase because i was looking for a hat large enough to cover my head and ears the quality is very good, I didn't particularly care for the other items she has on Evine.

Like @Trix I too live in a cold weather climate and the shortest coat I wear in the winter  covers my knees or is full length.  I own a full length faux shearling lined with Tissavel fur from Pam McCoy that I brought many years ago that is warm as toast and beautiful.   I am not one to do a whole lot of layering so I want my coats warm straight out the gate.

Depending on your budget, what length you prefer and or need in your area.  I haven't brought a coat in years so I'm not sure who is the best now I did purchase a full length Dennis Basso reversible coat with a hood which is a rare length in his QVC collection but I wore it practically all last winter and it was very warm so all that layering was not needed.  I do think Pam McCoy leads the pack as far as the best if I had to choose.

Dennis Basso gets my vote. I have been very pleased with every coat, bedspread and throw that I've purchased.

It's funny you posted this, I was just thinking this earlier this morning.  Hands down, Pamela in her tissavel line.

I know this will end up sounding rude but I must be honest. I have had many real (8) fur coats. Now down to one. I've had four Dennis Basso faus fur coats and a faus fur throw. All were beautiful and did not disappoint. Never owned anything from Pamela. BUT, would never, ever purchase anything from Donna. To me they all look like they are made with rat hair. (Remember my first sentence warning).

@mimilucy Not sure if you ever owned any DS, but I have 4 that was customed tailored by them, and they even monogrammed them as well.  Beautiful.

What I like about Donna, is it's made in the USA.

I bought one coat from Dennis, and one sleeve was longer than the other.  But, it's made in China like eveything else these days except me. Woman LOL

Re: Who has the best faux fur line?

Some years ago I decided I wanted a faux mink jacket.  Not able to chose McCoy vs Basso, I order one of basically the same style from each.  When I examined them side by side, the Pamela McCoy was the clear winner.  The fur fabric was more realistic, the finishing details nicer, the fit better.

I have pieces from Donna and Pam , from full length to short as I lived in the Colorado and Idaho cold mountain winters. Both do some very nice replicas. The Basso pieces I tried, Were returned.
