I was invited to a party that requested White Cocktail attire. I have ever been to a white party.   I have an ivory cocktail dress. Will that be acceptable?

How fun!

I would think ivory is acceptable.  It's a shade of white.

I think that an ivory dress will be lovely and fine! Do you have ivory accessories? This party sounds like fun. I wish I had such exciting opportunities!

I think you'd be frustrated if yon went out and bought a white dress, then went to the party and saw many shades of white being worn. Have fun! 🍹

Just when you think you've read it all.  I think someone needs to look up the term white party and see what it actually means.

 Somethings to consider .........

Cocktail dress code etiquette is a way of stating the dress code

that is suitable for the evening; more formal than casual clothes

and less formal than evening wear i.e. black tie.

The level of formality for Cocktail Attire can also alter dependant on

the location, reason and season.

A good indication as to the formality of the occasion is the type of

invitation you receive – if it came by phone or email it is more likely

to be a casual affair. If it’s a formal invite, especially from a Charity

or Association, then you should consider it dressy.

If you are attending a Cocktail Party with your husband/partner

then you should ensure you co-ordinate the level of formality

of your outfits with his.

I'd reconsider the ivory dress if I were you.  I've been reading on line about "white parties" and it seems that wearing white is really the only acceptable color.  You will feel terribly out of place if everyone else is in stark white and you are in ivory.

Sounds like a fun time.  Whatever your decision, hope you enjoy yourself.

We attended a white winter wonderland cocktail party. (a charity event)  The decor and drinks were white.  Most women dressed in "shades"  of white or partially in white. A few men dressed in white, but most wore dark suits.

I've not heard the term White Cocktail Party..
