Personally, I have always thought of a "V" neck cardigan as being masculine; maybe because of Norman Rockwell pictures and watching Mr. Rogers with our young children.

From a design background, they don't do a thing for me; although, I like all other tops with "V" necks!  

This V neck sweater is cashmere from Banana Republic.

The classic style of cardigan buttons up to a jewel neckline which in other tops, is not a favorite of mine, but ok with a cardi.  I usually just don't button them.

I prefer V-neck button cardigans but truthfully, I prefer to wear a jacket rather than a sweater.

Either style is okay ... so many variables.  It all depends on the yarn, the color and occasion.  

I prefer more colorful sweaters.

Love sweater sets, bought this set last fall.  Also prefer v-neck, bought the navy open stitch earlier this year.

I don't care for sweater sets.  I prefer the sweater, not the shell...never appealed to me.
