Do you prefer:
1. A fitted tank
2. A flowy, looser-fitting top
3. A matching shell (for a twinset look)
4. Something else

most of the time a fitted tank or camisole.

Depends on the style of cardigan.

Usually a fitted tank w/ a somewhat low scooped or a v neckline. I never wear turtlenecks or a bateau neckline w/ a jacket or cardigan. I think it's the most flattering to have an open neckline.

A fitted tank.

Fitted tank or camisole. If cardigan has prints, then cami or tank is solid (lace or otherwise), and vice versa.

I prefer a fitted tank. Mine do not usually match the color of the cardigan. They usually contrast & compliment them.
I've got several camis with adjustable straps but I like tanks better because they cover bra straps. Sometimes the cardigans flop open and, when wearing a cami, bra straps show.

I own several Jockey camis like this. They are lightweight, comfortable and do not pill.

Usually a fitted tank, and sometimes a long flowy top.
