Shells are still available.  Many times I see less casual short sleeve tops made of fabrics I wouldn't consider to be a t-shirt listed under t-shirts.  I also see items which I always referred to as shells listed under sweaters.  My suggestion would be as other have said to look up shells using a search engine, or look under t-shirts and sweaters in some of the departmnt store websites.  You will be surprised how many "shells" are available under other names.  Maybe the brands and store buyers feel the term shell sounds dated.

@Greeneyedlady21  Without AC, yes it may be too warm. I'm always cold so they work for me under my suits which are from Dillard's. And, I have lupus and cannot tolerate the sun for medical reasons so don't go outside during the warm part of the day. Sorry if the Linea tops won't work for you. My other tops are silk, which I've purchased at NM or Saks.
