I am not familiar with Skimmies (I do not have any), but from the look of them, how are they cooler than a slip? They look like they would make your legs and butt sweat in hot weather! I think I would rather wear a slip...at least you get air circulation!

I don't even own a slip.
If something is that sheer, I wouldn't wear it.

I still WEAR SLIPS....and they are needed, that is why they were invented. Ladies now have no shame and honestly, no CLASS about them so you see some terrible sights. I am also a plus size and even though the dress might not be SHEER the fabric can be THIN so all the LUMPS AND BUMPS are sheen if you don't layer correctly. I wear spanx and a slip.

Sidenote, I also ordered my slips from amazon and for the plus sizes like ME....Lane Bryant is now carrying a slip selection online at the .com
they have many different lengths. I have this one for my knee length skirts -

She wore mostly pink ones with long legs. Today they are sold as no chafe panties to women with thicker thighs that rub together when they walk. It's amazing how fashion comes and goes. Items that were dated 50 years ago are back in style.
Perhaps the youngsters will adopt slips again.
Just imagine what this looks like in the front.
Oh, Geez!! I never thought of that, but you know exactly what it looks like.

I have Skimmies and prefer a slip, much cooler. They are hot in the summer, but in the winter do give a nice smooth line under a skirt. I guess if I had to consider whether I'd buy them again, I'd say no. If I have a garment where I need some smoothing I'll wear Spanx.

You are not an old fuddy duddy and neither am I, but the slip really needs to make a comeback!!! A half slip is not uncomfortable. It helps a skirt to lay properly and not move between the legs when walking. I, too, have seen plenty of women wear sheer dresses and skirts and exposing their panties or lack of panties.
