Re: What kind of outfits will you be wearing to this years get-togethers?

I think that if you don't give parties....you won't be invited to parties.  We do most of our entertaining during the Christmas Season.  We always have a Christmas Eve dinner, we invite some family and close friends.  Drinks, dinner and most years most of will attend Midnight services at our church.  It's a "dress up" party.  Christmas day, we have casual brunch or luncheon.  It's  "sweaters and jeans"  and we make a point of inviting friends who we know will be alone on Christmas.  My bff always throws a big fancy dress up party at her house and I look forward to that because I can get all "sparkled" up.  We generally don't go out on New Years Eve but this year, we will be going to a New Year's Eve party at the home of our friends.

We get together with another couple we were in college toger with.  We've done a lot of things together through the years.  Our children grew up together as well.  DH and I have moved and they followed to my hometown.

The entire groupe, all have a "Family Christmas" every year which the parents take turns with.  Now we have generation three!!Smiley Happy

I have several events, social, civic, political, volunteer, church, neighborhood and friends.  I think we have at least 8-9,or more, that we will attend.

Most of our events are Sunday-go-to-meeting attire, a couple are cocktail and one is very casual (New Year's Eve in the garden, weather permitting).

Re: What kind of outfits will you be wearing to this years get-togethers?

Growing up there were several dress-up holiday parties where the kids were also invited every year.  There was always a huge Christmas Eve party at one couple's home for over 20 Christmases.   Then hubby and I hosted several gatherings every year with one big Christmas party every year ..... and things just slowed down as we got older.  People moved away or passed on.  Times changed.   We still host a big family and friends gathering every Christmas Day with a big meal, opening packages, etc., that starts about noon and goes till the last person leaves in the evening.   People come and go in anything from fancy dresses to jeans.  I'm always in jeans and Christmas sweater.  That's as dressed up as I get these days.
