There seems to be a fair amount of it on QVC (D&C, SG, QF), not so much on the other shopping channels and I don't think I've seen much in the stores. Whenever I hear French terry I think of a bath towel. Is it loopy on one side and flat on the other??? Is it more a sportswear fabric??? Is it cotton, poly, rayon???? Clue me in, please. TIA!

"French terry is NOT a loop terry like bath toweling. The right side of the fabric is smooth. The back side has small loops that lay flush with the fabric surface, giving a textured appearance. You see this fabric in the apparel market used for sweatpants and sweatshirts and hoodies."

French Terry is the weave of the fabric. It can be made of different fibers.

It is thicker than a cotton tee and not as thick as sweatshirt fleece (smooth outside).

French terry is smooth on the outside and curly on the inside.

Issac does a lot of French terry in spring jackets using gold or tonal buttons. They're nice and can look very good.

Thanks for your responses and clarification. Didn't realize IM did items in that fabric. Will check him out.

It's sweat shirt fabric without the fleece fuzziness on the inside.
