Winters can be bitter in mid-Michigan. I would never wear a so-called coat that did not button!

In addition, unless one is quite flat-chested, an unbuttoned cardigan looks sloppy, flopping as one walks.

I do not buy cardigans, coats, blazers, jackets, etc. without buttons or zippers. I may not always use the closures, but I want them for that purpose when needed. I also think closures of some kind make a garment look more finished.

I rarely button my coats and/or cardigans.  But I want the ability to do so if it gets bone chilling cold around here.

@ROMARY   I must tell you that the magnet was not my idea.  I bought it at a store   ---  at least the first one.   Maybe the purpose was more like a brooch, but either way it is not feasible.
