I think athletic build can be any weight, but very fit and toned. Noticeably, someone who works out with weights. Low fat count and no looseness in the figure. Like no "wiggle, no "jiggle."

Solid bone structure. Not necessarily slim, but solid. Strong. Robust, in a firm, solid way. Statuesque.

I'm sorry, but with that pic with Catherine and Bruce Jenner side by side, I would say that Catherine looks more athletically built to me than Bruce or Caitlyn. He just looks like a butch old woman.

It would depend on where I heard it and who said it and why.

As many pointed out already, QVC hosts/vendors sometimes talk about this when speaking of those who need wide calf boots.

Many of you are probably familiar with the three body types:

ectomorph - slim, straight, finer boned
mesomorph - the "athletic build," medium boned

endomorph - softer, more rounded, fuller, medium to large boned

@lolakimono she isn't what i would have considered athletic, but has built herself up into one. she is really very tiny. i don't know how she does it!

A man who has an athletic build is toned and muscled from working out and doing sports. I would assume it means the same thing for women. An athletic build is not fat it's toned and athletic looking.
