I am over 50, and to dress up a bit in the summer I like to wear a knee length skirt with a short sleeve top with ballet flats or wedges. IMO an A-line skirt can flatter your shape regardless of your weight. I usually grab a cardigan in case the A/C is blasting anywhere I am going. This way I can be cool, comfortable, and look put together.

Somewhere I gravitated to wearing a lot of black. One day I woke up and realized it. I have other colors, but I just wasn't wearing them. I bought some new tops in colors. Some were outside of my comfort zone. For example, I wore tan crops with an orange top. I received comments from co-workers that I look nice. So now I am conscious not to wear black head to toe. On Sunday, I go into my closet and pull the tops and bottoms for the week. I make sure I don't duplicate colors and limit the black.

I like a midi dress or a floaty printed skirt with a solid tank or tee. Very comfortable in hot weatther and I feel presentable. I can't wear a maxi as I'm short.
I bring a woven button up shirt for a cover-up if I'm going to a cold air-conditioned place (movies, restaurant). A denim shirt looks good in a casual place. A camp shirt is good, too.
Add comforable sandals and I'm out the door.

I love Maxis and hi low dresses with sandals. I also like capris with a nice bra friendly tank top.

Everyone has an opinion, That's okay. Mean after all your asking for suggestions. So here's my experience. Size large know what works for my body. Find what works for your lifestyle. By the way, Don't let anyone make you feel your size is the problem. No health issues. My Doctor says, Keep doing what your doing. Healthy lifestyle is key. Enjoy your summer! I'll do the same. 😊

My non work uniform is something like this:
LLB unshrinkable tank
LLB Signature ankle jeans (cuffed once) or shorts.
Sandals- Birkenstock, Pikolinos, Sanitas, etc.
Last night I wore the above pieces, but swapped out a D & Co. peasant top for the tank.
I added this necklace from Pendleton (sold out).
I sometimes wear this Ocean Point skirt from LLB
and change out the tops or add a scarf.
I have a raffia belt (sort of like this) that I add to things with beltloops to bring in other colors.
I'll add a belt from Jenny Krauss or Pistil if I want something more flexible.
If I go to work, it's capris or a skirt, a blazer or cardigan and a tank or tee. I'll usually add a scarf or necklace. Sometimes I'll do a maxi dress or a sleeveless dress with pumps or dressier sandals.
Here is a seersucker blazer I own from LLB.
On Monday I went off site to work and wore these, from LLB-
cuffed-
and pink kitten heeled spectator sandals.

Comfort is paramount in the summer months. I usually wear a long tank dress with or withou cap sleeves. I have a vivid assortment of Minnetonka thong sandals and try to pick up the color or the contrasting color in the dress.
Since going in and out of heavily air conditioned stores and restaurants can't be avoided, I will pair the dress with a lightweight shrug, wrap, or shawl.
Jewelry is kept simple...probably would forego the necklace if the temperature was too high.

I own three of those D&C peasant tops! Love them. They are classic.
