@elizabethl123 You are 90? Wow! You look so young I never would have guessed!
How do you feel being 90? That is so wonderful!

'Hey', our stuff is our stuff!
If we want to keep clothing and other items that remind us of 'other times', so be it.
So far, there aren't any laws forbidding us.
I still have a knit hat that I wore in middle school. It's so comfortable, acrylic, I believe.
Looks good, too.
Wash and spin; dry on a towel and drying rack. Or sometimes line dry on a hanger, on a rolling rack in a sunny room.
'Oh, well'.........."To each our own". So far.

I have a beautiful blazer style jacket that was custom made for my mother by a woman she met at a craft fair. The fabric was hand-woven in colors she chose. Nobody in the family can wear it, it cost a fortune and I love it so much I can't bear to get rid of it.

For you ladies that regularly purge or are planning to purge, try to find a clothing bank in your area that will donate the clothes to needy people rather than donating to Goodwill who will sell them for profit. Also if you have work clothes try finding if there is a Dress for Success organization that will donate them to women seeking professional jobs that might not be able to afford a working wardrobe.

Mine is a dress a bought on our Honeymoon in Hawaii in 1976.....
Aloha @Nataliesgramma
Please post a picture of it. I assume it is an Aloha dress? I'd love to see how it compares to Aloha dresses of today.

That's a loaded question😂. My closet needs some serious attention.I have to weed out jeans, tops, dresses & shoes. In other words I have to purge & donate about 40% of what's in there.
My goal is to start tackling it a little at a time.I'm hoping to have it done before Spring.

Last year I finally got rid of the formal gown that I wore to my dh's 10th class reunion back in 1975. It was white eyelet over yellow. Just beautiful and I think that it came from JCP for about $20.00.
I still have my wedding gown & it will be 50 years old on 03/14/70/ Lord willing.
I purge regularly and enjoy being able to see what I have at a glance.

Nothing at this time. I purge my wardrobe regularly. I just went through it last week and removed about a dozen items. I do not keep clothing I don’t wear.
The only sentimental clothing item I have is my wedding dress. I have photos of special events so I don’t feel the need to keep the items I wore at those events. I have family members & friends who keep sentimental clothing they no longer wear. It’s fine for them and anyone else who wants to do it. It’s just not something I do.
