We are lone voices in our dislike for this trend which grows daily. I have no interest whatsoever in being "friends" with moderators whose sole job is to be outside and impartial. The blurring of these lines goes against the grain and for me is unwelcome.
I think it's wrong but have grown weary of fighting the pack mentality here.

Answering questions is one thing (though I do find it tiresome and intrusive); posting as if they were users, not moderators is another.

It's not new, they have been doing it for a while. I don't mind, they haven't taken over the board. It's our babysitters and their subjective censoring that can be aggravating.
