I am very careful about what I buy at the Q -- and online in general -- so I don't think I abandon my Q buys once they are in the closet.  What I have noticed, however, is that organization really matters to me.  Things that hang in my closet get worn the most.  The things folded on my closet shelves can get buried if I don't keep them neat.  And things that go into my chest of drawers (excluding, underwear, socks and tights) are regularly forgotten.  I need to figure out a new way to keep them in front of my eyes.

I am the exact same when it comes to how I wear my clothes.  I have to hang almost everything to make sure i wear my clothes.  Drawers are the worst to me so i keep trying to figure out what to put in the dresser that will get me to open the drawers.

Just recently, I have been hanging everything I can.  Everything in my drawers just become a jumbled mess and I am tired of refolding and organizing. After donating the majority of my clothes, my space feels much better.  I still have too much but I am able to get rid of more and more as I go along. I don't want to spend my time constantly organizing.

Re: What I learned when organizing my closet

Yeah, I intensely dislike the jumbled-mess-in-the-drawer thang.  I only have jammies, socks, undies, and believe it or not, purses in drawers.

Fortunately, we have a shelf that goes around the three walls of our closet above the hangers, so I fold sweaters, jeans, t-shirts and scarves and put them in piles on the shelf where I can readily see them.  Shoes on a triple layered shelf as well as a multi layered cubby on the floor.   A very few things in a hope chest.  Everything else is hung up on Joy Mangano hangers.

I'm highly organized and I like to keep it up...straightening, rotating, donation, etc....on a regular basis.

Simplify, simplify, simplify!
