Hello fashion friends.

Handsome and I went to the beach earlier this week. The weather was beautiful...mid 60s and sunny, go figure. We returned home to mid 40s, so it was a blessing to have a few days of mild temps. We should be consistently in lower "winter" temps starting in the next few weeks.

I went to my favorite beach consignment shop and did some damage, but, since I haven't been buying lately (at least three, maybe four, weeks without purchasing anything fashion related...that's quite a long time for me), I don't feel too bad about it. Plus, all the items were half off .

Shopped my closet when I got home to see what outfits I could come up with. The newly thrifted pieces in these pics are:

*e-thrifted (about two months ago) Natori straight leg ankle pant for summer, late spring and early fall. Side zip, hits right at my ankle (hard to find), sold on HSN back in the day. Has a slight sateen-like hand to it. Had to take in the thighs a bit for a perfect fit. Can finally scratch perfect black summer/transition ankle pant off my buy list.

*e-thrifted (about two months ago) Levi's 724 straight slim black cords. These are a temporary fill-in-the-gap black pant for early spring and late fall. I'm not a big fan of cords, but they're so quintessentially fall-ish and will do until the perfect black transition pant/jean comes along.

*e-thrifted wide hinged cuff bracelet wrapped in black, off-white, and blue animal print silk with bow.

*Beach consignment slightly over-sized green cotton relaxed fit Pistola shirt (at least it's not white😬). Nice quality, easy breezy, versatile. I bought it mostly for the color, but I've always wanted something from this brand because my Italian Grandmother used to call me a pistola 😮 (in a most endearing way, of course😁).

*Beach consignment Zalo embroidered mules. LOVE...favorite purchase this trip.

*Beach consignment Nancy Newman Textiles crossbody bag repurposed from a kantha quilt...very versatile in my closet because blue.

*Beach consignment cotton poly Military Hippie open front cable knit cardigan...grey-ish white "ash" color with black threads...that I tweaked into a poncho.

All other pieces are from my closet.

#1    Pistola shirt, Natori ankle pant and Zalo mules.  I love this color with black.

#2    I also like this green with blue, especially mid to dark wash denim...and kantha crossbody.

#3  White is a no brainer...

This is what the Military Hippie sweater looked like when I purchased it. I'm not a fan of faux or real fur, but this...this...thang was dead brown rat fur IMO😱. At first, I thought the previous owner had added it to the sweater, but a quick search showed that it was made this way. I mean, if you're going to use fake fur on a grey-ish white sweater, at least pick fake silver fox or snow leopard, not dead brown rat, but I digress.

I figured I could remove it, and I did. I still didn't like it...I'm not a fan of open front cardigans, so I started thinking this might have been a big, but, thankfully, not costly mistake.

The back has a kool lacing feature, and, overall, the sweater has beautiful mixed stitches and a slight scalloped edge in front that doesn't look cutesy.

I thought it would look better, and that I would get more use out of it as a poncho...it's cozy, beefy and perfect for transition...so I hand stitched the open front closed.   Liked it much better, but didn't love it...kind of boring.

I got to thinking... The back lacing design looked very much like shoe laces, so I found a spare pair of laces in my stash that matched the back lacing perfectly in width and color, and I used them to mimic the back lacing design in the front, which took three tries.

Finally, I can say I love this piece! Although, to do it true hippie justice, I should wear it with an über feminine white dress with lace and frills and ruffles and tiers and a little bit of embroidery and a pair of cream colored granny boots..."those were the days, my friend."

#5   I like it with black, too...Levi's cords

Get this dead rat out of my house 😆!

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving with much to be thankful for...count your blessings (and shop your closet)!

P.S. to @queendiva  Haven't "seen" you in ages...hope all is well, and you are thrifting to your heart's content.

First of all, I love that beautiful tint of green!

Love it with deep navy pants/trousers/jeans.

Also, love, love your re-vamped cardigan sweater!

@MacDuFF

I love that color green, especially with the ways you have chosen to wear it.  It is versatile and a good look.

Next, I cannot believe what a fabulous job you did revamping that rabbit that got away on the pretty cardigan.  Glad you decided to buy it and "fix" it.  You have a lovely garment for a little work and little cost (your words, not mine; that would have been a year of work for me).

Have a great week and happy shopping in your closet more and more.

I know this has been said before, but I’m going to say it again. You should be a QVC model. You look great in everything!

Absolutely!

I don't know if you live near QVC.  You should be a QVC model !

Or, maybe a long-distance model !

Some of the non-regular models are video taped, modeling various items.

@MacDuFF Just curious - is your favorite thrift store in Hilton Head?

We were on vacation and my husband forgot to bring a book to read. We saw a thrift store and he said that they should have books. So we pulled into the parking lot. The store was not scheduled to open for another HOUR. But almost every spot in the parking lot was taken and everyone was waiting for the store to open.

Once we entered, we knew why it was so popular. What a nice selection of everything. There was a dress on display, that I really liked. But I had just donated most of my nice dresses, I couldn't see buying another.

Happy Hunting. Glad that you seem to find some nice items during your hunts. Congratulations and Enjoy!

@MacDuFF

Glad you found some "new" pieces at the consignment store.

You did a great job with the cardigan. Looks much better without the faux fur IMO.

Have a Great Week!
