What I Wore 11/3/24...

[ Edited ]

Hi fashion friends.

A few more weeks left of our normal transitional roller coaster weather. I went shopping and thrifting a few times this week, but didn't buy. I have a cashmere sweater on its way from eBay though😁. I believe I have enough to get me through the transition, but transition is the last section in my closet that I've been working on, so we'll see.

The only thing I love about transition is that I lean toward more cozy casual outfits, which I prefer, and I get to wear my sneaks the most during transition...love my sneaks!  Otherwise, dressing for transition is a royal PITA😮!

#1 The new piece (thrifted a few months ago) is a color blocked 100% cotton J.Crew top that I'd call sweatshirt material, but with a casual kool factor and non-traditional sweatshirt look that I love. No bagging or stretching...washed like a dream. It's medium grey, light grey, and white. Perfect with my cotton Rag & Bone (printed) joggers and light base layer...

Zipper up the back is fun. I can wear it front side, but only zipped up...didn't like the way it draped when worn open. (Bonus look at the last patch of dark hair left on my grey head .)

This thrifted quilted Talbots jacket (pics from last WIW thread) went through a Picky MacDuff process...

Looking at those pics, it took about 15 seconds for these Picky MacDuff thoughts to run through my mind...

*The sleeves look slightly short.
*Love this shade of blue, but don't like it with black (go figure).
*The only denim wash I like with this shade of blue is indigo (go figure).
*Love this shade with white and grey.
*Too bad the sleeves are too snug to wear with my grey cashmere sweater (or any sweater).
*It's slightly too hot to wear comfortably in early (warm) transitional weather.
*It's not quite warm enough for late (cool) transitional weather.
*Stop buying jackets...you're not that big a fan!
*Too bad it's not a vest.

All of the above equaled a not-very-versatile purchase. No problem.

And voilà...

#2 Over the thrifted J.Crew sweatshirt, e-thrifted indigo AG Harper, and Converse Jacks

#3 Over e-thrifted AYR lavender blue and white striped tee, old AG Harper, and e-thrifted Chucks

I love it as a vest! It's more versatile for my transition needs and more versatile with items in my closet. I can wear it with my grey cashmere sweater AND a base layer, too. Took about an hour.

And now for something completely different...

This has to be the single most ridiculous question I've ever asked on any forum ever, but I simply must know...is it just me, or do y'all see the old man in this handbag!!??!!  (FYI:  Not my bag.)

I hope y'all have a great week.

@MacDuFF  I love all your outfits but that blazer made into a vest takes the cake! Great idea and it looks amazing as a vest.

I'm no style maven but with the quilting it looks

Ralph Lauren-ish.

Lovely!

Edited to say: yes, I see the old man! haha

Love the blue vest.  I can think of so many combos where it would be an asset.  Plus it adds some warmth on chilly days.  I have about a dozen of them.

@MacDuFF  You look terrific in all of the pictures.  You have great taste and yes I see the old man in the purse!  Love the purse by the way!

I love the blue vest too!  I would want the collar to lay down, but that's a personal thing!

The J.Crew top is lovely and looks perfect on you, MacDuFF,   Creating the vest from a jacket was a good idea and looks so nice over the tops, good job!!!

As far as the bag is concerned, I do see an old man, an angry one at that!!!!!!

OH...that blue vest is right up my alley!    (I would probably struggle with another shopper to get my hands on that one.)

Doubt that I would spend the time to remodel it, tho.   The sewing machine retired when I did.    di

@MacDuFF You never cease to amaze me!   I love what you did making the jacket into a vest!  Perfection.  I am a vest person and also wear them often for the transition season.

I don't care for a full winter jacket, it has to be pretty darn cold for me to put one on and I live in New England.  I have at least 12 vests of different patterns colors and weight for almost all of our winter weather here.  Very impressed as I can't sew to save my life Smiley Sad

ETA:  I was so excited I forgot about the bag, yes I can see an old man in it, LOL!

Great outfits.  I really like the block sweatshirt....it's super cute and looks comfy but yet stylish at the same time.  I like the quilted jacket/vest.  For me, I would have kept it a jacket as my upper arms is where I get cold.  A vest doesn't do much for me in staying warm so because of that I don't gravitate towards them when out shopping.  Both ways look (looked) great on you.

The bag.....LOL....yes, I do see an old man's face in it.

I like the grey and white sweatshirt, but the zipper down the back would drive me crazy. I would have to wear something under the top so I couldn't feel the metal zipper. Love a zip up jacket, but I tend to avoid zipper tops and dresses for that reason.

You did a great job changing that jacket into a vest. The outfits you created with it look very nice. I actually like it better on you as a vest. I've tried a few vests before, but I never like them on me. I think they look cute on others. I guess I'm just not a vest person.

And, yes, I see a face in that handbag.

Have a Great Week!
