When I bring home something new, I try creating different outfits with things I have in my closet and take pictures of the outfits I like the best (to refresh my memory haha). I rarely keep anything that I can't use to put together two (or more) outfits. I only need one pic of any piece/outfit because I can visualize other outfits by changing footwear, bag, jacket, jeans style/color, or switching from dressed down (the usual) to dressed up (occasionally, which means bottoms other than jeans). Eighty-five to 90% of my wardrobe is thrifted, so you can assume most items in any outfit were thrifted.

Even though I'm slowing down👵and can't keep up like I used to😭, I want to keep posting pictures because it's an enjoyable pastime for me, and I've gotten some of my best ideas from your comments and suggestions throughout the years. If I don't get back to this thread, I apologize, but please know I read and appreciate all your comments. And, as always, I hope you are inspired to be creative and shop your closet.❤️

Hi fashion friends. Transition is in full swing now, and I do mean swing...warm, cool, warm, warmer, cool, warm, cooler. I have a love/hate relationship with it; I love the warm/cool temps versus the extremes of summer (our longest season) and winter (short as it is), but I hate dressing for it because I have limited choices, especially footwear (except for sneaks, which I love, but don't want to wear everyday), and I'm not crazy about vests and jackets, which are a must have for transition.

I do have an impressive assortment of base layers (from linen to wool), which helps to utilize some summer tops (for warm temps) as well as some sweaters (for cool to cold temps). So I have that going for me.

Would love to hear anything and everything about how you deal with transitional dressing...I need the help😁!

#2 These mid-weight FC sweaters are perfect for transition...bracelet length sleeve, with or without a base layer, can move into winter with heavier base layer, wash/dry/wear...which is why I broke one of my Rules and bought two😬.

Prosecco pink (an extremely rare example of a perfectly named color!) French Connection popcorn sweater (looks great with black slacks and boots, too); floral mesh base layer (my girlfriend thought it looked Pucci-inspired; Handsome thought it looked like tattoos...go figure); AG Harper jeans; Converse Shoreline sneaks; straw SAK bag.

#3 Here's an outfit I wore to clean/reorganize the spare bedroom closet, work from home for two hours, do the bills, and laze around reading. In my neck of the woods, I could go to the nearest Food Lion in this and not be totally mortified if I ran into anyone I knew!  @GingerHead  From Lady Rancher to ranch hand just like that😂!

#5 The navy ditzy floral is also mesh; I can wear it with the navy FC popcorn sweater.

I hope everyone has a great week!❤️

I like the pink sweater on you the best and it looks great with the navy pants.

I don't put a lot of thought into transitioning into fall and winter.

I have everything pretty much in one closet and don't have a ton of shoes. But instead of sleeveless tops that are made for super hot muggy humid weather, I start wearing short sleeves. Then when colder, longer sleeves and thicker material.

Same with pants from lightweight cotton to velour or corduroy, heavier material, skirts with tights. And I still wear something that will be ok if it gets hotter later in the day and wear a jacket or sweater in the cool or cold morning.

Like so many areas it can go from winter temperatures to summer temps in the afternoon!

Layers are good so I can peal them off when I need to.

I really love the popcorn pink sweater and also the print of the scarf.  The bibs are very cute.  I have a pair of these years ago and I wore them a lot.

I love #4 and #1 but can't do a turtleneck style sweater.

I'm lazy and don't do a lot of intentional transitional dressing.  I wear short sleeves in the summer, 3/4 length or long sleeves in the spring and fall and mostly sweaters in the winter.  If I get cold in the spring summer or fall, I throw on a cardigan.

You look better in your "working around the house " outfit than I do in most of my going out outfits.  Love it.

@MacDuFF

This is the perfect transition outfit.

It tells us that summer is over but we're nowhere near winter because of the shoes and bag.  But soon, with cooler temperatures, that outfit can transition once more with a leather bag and shoe/boot.

Looks great!

@MacDuFF you have such a wonderful sense of style. So hip and fresh.

LOVE everything in your last shot, beautiful pinks; that navy floral is beautiful.

The Old Navy overalls look great on you. The looser leg is so flattering; you look amazing.

Outfit #4 is my favorite and closest to my style.

I like your popcorn sweater in navy too.

For transitioning into fall & winter I definitely rely on layering. I wear blazers and jackets in various fabrics and styles this time of year instead of traditional outerwear coats which are too bulky and too hot. I don't like vests so I don't wear them.

I layer over short and long sleeve tops and thin knit pullover sweaters depending on the temperatures that day. It's cool here in the morning, but I can remove my blazer or jacket if it warms up in the afternoon.

I wear sneakers all year, but in the fall I switch from ballet flats to loafers with or without socks depending on the temperature. I also have 2 pairs of ankle boots that I can wear with jeans and trousers.

@MacDuFF    I like your first two outfits, especially the Prosecco pink sweater. Yes, its is aptly named

Oh, that transitional weather can be psycho! I am done with the closet switch-over. All of the summer wear is now up in my attic.
I have brought down the 3/4 length sleeve tops, the lightweight long sleeve tops, and some light weight sweaters for autumn.

As the temps drop in winter, down come the heavy weight items, but all of my jeans and long pants stay in my closet year round. (I don't mind going up to my full size attic if I do need something.)
