Watch length question..........

When the description states a 9 1/2" watch strap.......does that include the length of the watch itself? I have a larger wrist and I have bought some watches (had to return) because the 9 1/2" strap description really meant the strap AND the watch combined was 9 1/2". This has been so confusing for me. I am particularly interested in the Joan Rivers watch:

Really love the look of this one. Said the strap is 9 1/2" with a 1 1/2" watch. If that means the total is 11", that would be great for me, with some left over. Thanks for any replies.
