If I really want something and it is remotely in my price range, I usually don't wait for a sale especially footwear as I only wear a 5 and they would be gone.  Other items, it depends on how bad i want it, how many are in stock and where it is.  Another deciding factor is the length of time left in the wearing season.  No point waiting for a sale in mid-October for a Fall item I see in September.  By the time I order, wait for shipping and receive the wearing season is about gone and I'm on to looking for winter items.

there's really absolutely nothing I need or really want, I sort of like the camel coat at GAP, they had one last year that I watched but missed the window

 I like to play the sale game,  

but I don't need it 

trying to get rid of stuff but it's a nice piece
