I am very sensitive about different areas of my body. For instance, since I've gotten older, I have a little pouchy stomach thing -- it's not large, but I try to be careful not to wear anything that will show it. And my hips and thighs I have never been fond of, so if I am wearing something a little more formfitting, I will wear a longer top.

A lot of those stretchy bottoms that are out now --- some are in very wild prints, some are plain --- they are comfortable - but they are not forgiving in how they show off the body ---what is good and what is bad!

Well, good for you...lol But you understand that fashion is about personal choice. So, while you might think you dreess well and appropriate and look quite nice....there are other women who think you look like a hot mess and they wonder why you venture outside dressed like that. That's their opinion and they are entitled to it. I this bashing of other women for the choices in clothing is generaltonal thing, younger women don't do it nearly as much as the older set does. In fact it's one of the traits that shouts "old lady talking". I've learned to reign it in. It's mean and it's disrepectful to other women and it's just plain silly.

My pants say yoga, but my butt says McDonalds. I dress how I dress. Maybe I love those flowered pants. Maybe I did look in the mirror & think "Oh yeah. I look GOOD.". Maybe I'm not all that worried about how you feel about it. I had my baby in my stroller. We went & shopped. Maybe had lunch. Maybe went to a playground & played. Then I picked up my other children at school & we went home & did home work, fixed supper for my wonderful husband (that patted my bottom each time he passed me) & went to bed. I had to get up & put on a suit & go to work the next day, but I was comfortable & had fun in those flowered pants!

Well, I am not big into fashion and never was.

My motto is "don't contribute to visual pollution." There is plenty of fashion out there that hurts the eyes, for sure.

I seriously doubt she cares what anyone thinks about how she dresses but herself. Maybe her significant other likes a woman with what he "sees" as being curvaceous or maybe she isn't affected by the body shaming women do to each other. She may just like the way she looks and is proud of herself.

I recently gained weight from steroids for asthma. That and some other meds and I am not the thin self I am used to. I am very shy because of it and I weigh 140 and I am nearly 5feet 9. I only wish I had the confidence that woman had because of the nit picking I have done my entire life because I wanted to be a size 4 and would do anything to stay that way. Now, I am going to need to accept myself as I am but that woman is clearly happy with herself and I say all the power to her. I wish I was so blessed with the same attitude.

Good grief, it is hard NOT to look at someone dressed horribly. And yes, there are rights and wrongs, all you have to do is look around. Some people look like cr@p or indecent, some look good. Even if money is an issue, no one needs to see the bum crack, folds, or b@@bs hanging out.

Don't insult the OP for having vision and seeing the obvious.

There are many women out there who don't know how to dress and its a real shame. The experience you decribed is something that I have see too and I actualy find it offensive. The person I saw was a plus size and they had "white" thin capri leggings on with a short t-shirt. It was an unbelieveable sight. You could see all the ceulite budging through, stomach hanging out etc. Yes, of course its nice that everyone has their own style but this is not style instead its a hideous case or poor judgement and the people at the mall who saw her were all looking in disbelief. In this day and age when one can Google how to dress, or go on Pinterest and see how to put outfits together there is no excuse.

They probably have a very high sense of self esteem, much more than many (or some) of us (including myself). (Which is a good thing, imo.)

I remember when it was fashionable to go out in public in pajama bottoms, my husband commented that the kids were wearing their pj bottoms to school. I personally don't care how people like to dress as long as they are clean and don't have an odor. We all can't or want to be a fashionista, clothes are expensive.

I think sometimes we don't really see ourselves as we look in the mirror. I say that because someone took a picture of me at a baseball game recently I just couldn't believe how big I looked in the top I had on. I didn't see that in the mirror!!!: before I left to go to the game. I have never worn that top since. Just take a picture and that will tell you the truth.
