WOULD LOVE NEW PANTS, BUT.....

Last night on Amy's show, there were NYDJ Utility Pants

item # A 381875. I would have loved a pair, but as with any  pair of pants/jeans I'd purchase, all our tailors are closed.

Most were privately owned and have signs out saying "Out Of Business". I tried the dry cleaners where I sometimes had alterations done, but they had to let their sewing person go to stay open. So, what can I do if I need pants other than hem tape?

This is where your neighborhood Nextdoor is so valuable. Post an inquiry and I am sure your neighbors will give you all kinds of options.

@Shanus Talbots is having a flash sale right now on pants. $19.99 on all markdown crop pants, but there are also quite a few ankle pants and regular length pants. At 5'4" a misses ankle pant is frequently my perfect inseam. Includes misses, petites, women's and women's petites. The descriptions for all of the pants indicate the inseam. They're mostly summer, but there are also quite a few heavier weight pants. Everything I looked at was in stock.

Yes, it looks like tape, someone close to you willing to do it, or it's a do it yourself.

I was in the men's dept of a department store when I saw a tailor fitting a suit to a customer.  When he was finished and leaving the area, I nabbed him and asked if he did tailoring on the side, if so did he do women's clothing.

To my delight, he said he did both at home in the evenings and on weekends.  He hasn't been doing any in home tailoring now or working because of the virus, but is still employed and planning on opening his part time business when he hears the word.

If you don't run into one on the floor, possibly, you could ask a sales person if they have someone that does alterations and could you talk to him or her.  You might need to be discreet not giving away why you want to speak with this person.

That doesn't help you now, but it may be someone to replace the tailors who went out of business.

Google tailors your towns name and some choices should come up.  Example:  tailors new york city.

@Shanus   I hem all my pants myself.  I'm careful not to buy tricky tulip hems or pants with zippers or slits at the hems.  Otherwise, I have a sewing machine and can knock out a hem in no time.

Being petite myself I have luck with ankle length pants @ 25” inseam. If they’re tapered they are perfect full length pant for me.

@SharkE    I was watching D&C with my sister by phone.  When it came on and we saw those pants, we both howled.  Yes, they were bad but so was her shirt.  In fact, the whole show was bad.
