Re: WIW (w/e 2/25/23)...

[ Edited ]

@MacDuFF : Looking sharp, as always!

#1- Cute bag! Different with the floral print on black and perfect for this transitional  time. Accessories make the outfit.

#2- The RL blouse. Usually RL prints are just too conservative  (and maybe OL) for me. All is forgiven when the print is done in a tissue weight wool AND it's thrifted.

#3- That thrifted jacket is Everything! Fit, color, fabric and price. Checks all the boxes.

I bought nothing new in fashion at retail for the month of February... until yesterday.

I tried on a blouse I really liked at j.jill.recently. Was holding out until next week for their extra discount for my birthday month. Saw on line that it was further discounted, but was sold out on line and only 3 remained in my petite size in the entire country. I bit the bullet and paid the $10.00 shipping fee to have it sent from a store in VA, closest location to me. Added a blue beaded necklace which I will get a lot of wear from with all my denim items. It's all about Cost Per Wear for me. On the rare occasion that I buy retail (on clearance), it's usually from j.jill. 2 stores not far from me.

Picked up just a few transitional fashion items this week. Hit my fave thrift on Monday. They were having a President's Day clear out, end of winter sale- half price. I picked up 2 pairs of needed crop leggings for the gym / walking the neighborhood and a full price, NWT pima cotton/ span white button down.I did nothave a single one in my wardrobe. I am also looking for a high quality men's white button down for a less fitted, more Boyfriend look.

At my local thrift I picked up an aqua Irish wool cable cardi. It's a little snug right now, as European sizes run smaller than US sizes. I will look at it for inspiration as I continue on my weight loss journey.

Lastly, a quick thrift stop yesterday on my way to get a sandwich for lunch. I had only about 10 minutes to shop before the sandwich shop closed, so really no time to look through the racks in this small store. No need: She had several pairs of Birkenstock and Haflinger shoes- all new and in my size. I tried on a couple of pair, but even at  half off retail, they were still spendy for this quality German maker. The owner pointed out that I missed a pair in my size that were on the wrong shelf. She saw that I was struggling to narrow my choice down to just one pair, so knowing me and that I often negotiate a lower price, even at the thrift store (this is one of the few that I frequent that is not charity based) she offered me an additional 30% off if I bought 2 . Sold!

2 pairs of new Haflinger clogs- one oiled leather, the other suede- for less than the price of one. I have two pair of classic boiled wool upper Haflingers: one pair that I have had for several years, gifted at my request from DS and used exclusively as fall/winter house shoes; the other pair waiting in the wings for future house shoe use, purchased at, of all places, the QVC Frazer outlet store at 70% off. The brand is quality and has great arch support. See above: Cost Per Wear.

Never made it to the sandwich shop, LOL.

I always seem to blow my budget at the end of the month! But as you know, especially at thrift, buy it now or regret missing it tomorrow.

Love the red jacket and bag. Jeans and boots are a favorite of mine. Also like the stripe turtleneck with other garments a solid color.

@MacDuFF

Nice outfits. I really like the last one with the red jacket, striped tee, and jean.

I need to wear my red blazer more. It's a dressier fabric and style so I only wear it with tailored trousers when I'm more dressed up. I have a striped navy & white tee, and plenty of jeans so I could recreate your outfit with my red blazer for the Spring. Need to try that.

Have a great day & week!

Love the RL blouse. Classic and timeless.

The teal sweater is lovely (hope you kept it)!

Love the red jacket on you, you styled that outfit perfectly!

Thank you for posting!

@kate2357   I try to edit/purge every few weeks.  It's easier to manage things.  I used to do mini purges every few months, but that didn't work well for me.  And, LORD knows, I do not ever want to repeat the epic year-long purge.  Thrifting makes letting go easier.

@happilyretiredgirl   Bring on the sand and surf!  (Sorry you didn't get to wear your new sweaters.)

@Lisa Y   Hey early bird.  That RP bag was one of my best thrifts.  I almost passed it up, but the Q Baggette ladies talked me into it.

@PINKdogWOOD   I have two of the best charity thrift stores I've ever been in within 15 min of my house...it's dangerous haha.  But so much fun.

@jlkz   I've only ever heard that song song by Prince.  How funny that you heard it in a consignment store!

@teganslaw   Pics don't do that RL blouse justice.  And I'm usually not a fan of floral, or any prints really...a little goes a long way for me.  I'm surprised how much I love that blouse.

@Roscoe the Rascal   Yes!  I hate heavy!  I'm a proponent of shopping your closet, even though it goes against my natural inclination haha.  Retail prices are insane.

@depglass   Yes, sometimes it's hard to get rid of things that are so good, but I just hate a cluttered closet...there's only so many days in the year to wear things!

@Foxxee   I don't know why I dislike red and black.  I just know I don't love it and rarely wear it.

@queendiva   Hi thrifting pal!  Sounds like you're doing pretty good with the challenge.  I wouldn't even attempt a 10 minute thrifting spree...I need a couple of hours.  Great deal on the shoes.  Go get yourself a sandwich...you deserve it!

@Iwantcoffee   Yes, the striped t-neck is proving quite versatile.  That one is why I let the striped Camuto sweater go...I was getting more use out of the t-neck.

@wilma   Looking forward to seeing you in your red spring jacket.  I like the casual base with a dressier jacket look.

Thank you to all.  Heart

My favorites are the RL brown blouse (and I'm not even a fan of florals) and the red jacket outfit.  I love your boots with the RL blouse too!!

NO NO NO....you can't get rid of the Fair Isle sweater.  You'll need to go back and purchase it again from the place where you donated it.   LOL!  (in case you couldn't tell, I really like that sweater).

Thanks @shoptilyadropagain   I hear ya...it hurt to re-donate that fair isle sweater.  One consideration was that the mohair made me sneeze haha...I should have known.   I got more use out of the teal.

P.S. @queendiva   I had no idea there was such a thing as tissue weight wool...or felted wool...or wool felt!  doh.gif
