Good luck on your low buy thrift year. I'm trying to do a low buy this year too. Ever year I make a New Year's resolution to cut back on my shopping but fail miserably. I have plenty of items in my wardrobe so I'm determined to do it this year. I'm only buying things that need to be replaced due to wear and tear, and I've told myself I can buy 1-3 other items if I really love them. This will be a drastic reduction for me - if I can do it.
I miss my Stein Mart too. I bought all kinds of things there. Work separates, dresses, handbags, shoes, sweaters, casual tops, jewelry, housewares, etc. Mine had a nice men's department too. My husband would buy casual and more tailored clothes for himself there.

@MacDuFF : Looking great, as always. Thanks for sharing!
Love this week's Sweater Stories. What's not to love about thrifted cashmere and hand knit Merino?! They would all have come home with me, for sure.
Rules are meant to be broken, especially for Rack's President's Day sales. I have really not shopped retail and just spent $5.75 for the privilege of trying on a MW top from HSN. As a result there will be no more clothes shopping at HSN and QVC.
Another week where I scored more at thrifts than expected at this time of year. Best buys of the week include:
Vince ivory stretch silk blouse, NWT, added to the Posh pop-up: $30.00.
Half-off the store clear out end of season sale: black Italian leather made in Milano blazer, Some minimal distressing: $12.50.
Wide-ish leg crop jeans and stretch slim jeans: $3.50 /pair
Brooks Brothers white V neck cotton tee (men's M?) $2.00
Brooks Brothers leather tall boots with leather soles. New, no box: $8.00. I will consign these next fall. Too good to pass up.
Very RL inspired men's 100% cotton cable golf/ tennis vest- cream with navy trim. Will look great over that BB white V neck tee and with navy linen Bermuda shorts: $3.00.
XL red floral print Vera Bradley- inspired duffel. Some wear on the handles, otherwise good: $1.00.
An errand is taking me past my favorite thrift store tomorrow. Rarely do I leave there without a clothing item and/or a small piece of Waterford crystal.
Have a great week!

@MacDuFF- I like the blue ensemble the best. It looks good with the Converse.

Hi @Foxxee The R&B jeans-that-aren't-jeans bump my casual at-home wardrobe up a notch and are so comfortable. You have to touch the pants to realize they aren't denim. I tried a couple of "dressed up" outfits and wore one of them out and about today. I'll post pics next week. (BTW, Thomas Sowell has been a favorite of mine for years...he is a national treasure in my book.)
@Desert Lily I bet you have many sweet memories of shopping with your friend! Our SM didn't carry Mackie. Like @wilma, and I'm sure you, too, I bought all kinds of things there. I miss Peck & Peck and they had the best selection of readers anywhere. (Wilma, pre-purge I wouldn't have lasted two weeks in a low-buy challenge haha! You can do it! Shop your closet.)
@Kachina624 Pale yellow is a great idea...if only I could find the exact shade that works for me (butter)! The Talbot's top that I called mint green could easily pass for pale aqua, and it does look great with teal. I have a Peck & Peck red mock neck (which y'all are probably sick of haha) and never thought to pair it with the teal...I like it! The sweater looks great buttoned with the mock neck peeking up (a touch of red). I'm going to put yellow and aqua mock neck on my buy list. Thanks for the ideas!
@queendiva Whenever I make a thrifting mistake and have to re-donate a $3 or $4 item, I drop it into the donation bag and say, "At least it wasn't a $10 shopping channel try-on fee and return hassle!" I'm jealous about the Italian leather blazer and the BB leather boots.
Thank you @Lisa Y
