Hello fashion friends.

I apologize for not getting back to all the nice posters who responded so kindly to my thread last week. Things just piled up on me, and I'm scrambling to keep up even more than usualšŸ˜¬.

I started a gig two days a week, a few hours each day as a helper for an older lady, which is funny since, well, I'm an old lady, too. She's about nine years older and, quite frankly, a mess. The priority right now is decluttering and reorganizing, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. It's so bad, it borders on hoarding, and it's daunting I tell ya.

She has so much furniture in a small living room that access to the front door, which is the door closest to her bedroom, was blocked, I kid you not. The other door is far enough away from the living room and bedroom that, with her physical challenges, she'd never make it out in time in an emergency. I was having nightmares until I could get in there, declutter a corner, and move some furniture around to open the danged door (which is still a tight squeeze).

We'll see how it goes. If she gives me any grief, snark, and/or resistance, I'll quit because I don't suffer fools gladly, and I have enough trouble battling the other grumpy old lady in my life, namely, mešŸ˜®šŸ‘µšŸ˜†!

Still in transition...we had a couple 40Ā° days last week, which is par for the course for winter daytime temps here.

Anyway...here are the last few items from my favorite beach consignment haul of a few weeks ago.  (@drizzellla  it's Hope Consignment in Wilmington NC.  The one you mentioned in Hilton Head sounds like my kind of place!)

#1 The new piece = navy J Crew cropped sweatshirt with white side stripe and trim and a slight swing silhouette (and the new kantha xbody bag from last week's thread). My beloved Levi's Dad jeans are still in play. I looove this outfit!

#2 The new piece = lightweight merino wool Eileen Fisher sweater (worn with the new embroidered Zalo mules from last week's thread). For lack of a better description, the color is a pinky raspberry. Sweater will be versatile with different base layers for cool and cold temps.

#3 EF sweater with my old homemade plaid poncho and newly thrifted (a few days ago from my local charity thrift) LLBean felt (?) sherpa lined clogs, which I think are the cutest darned things ever.

FYI, both pairs of shoes were new with tags. Everything else in these pics is old and have been posted a dozen times throughout the years.

I hope all you nice women have a great week! ā¤ļø

@Sooner    Great idea about the dead rat fur thingie.  I gave it to Miss Kitty, the fat cat owned by the lady I'm helping.  So far, she's ignoring it, but we'll give it more time.  I think Miss Kitty is snubbing the gift from the interloper who dares to disrupt her fat cat lifestylešŸ˜†!

Good luck with your new adventure. Have to give you credit, don't think I want to help another old lady.  Can hardly help myself.

@MacDuFF love your #2 look! So polished and pretty.

Both pairs of shoes are to die for, the cat clogs are perfect!!

I wish you the best of luck in your new gig. It sounds as though you've already made some very important, vital changes to ensure the woman's safety and well being. Bless you...

@MacDuFF.  You've assembled some very good-looking outfits.  I just love that navy sweater with the white trim.  Very sharp with jeans.  The raspberry is pretty too, my color.

I love wintery clothes the best.  What do you wear for a jacket?

I love the mules.  I love all the shoes.  I like Eileen Fisher and I am a big J Crew fan so you got some really good items and these are some of your best looks yet.  I always like the way you dress but this is among the best.

Thank you for helping the older lady. We never know but what we will be that way and I always say "but for the grace of God..." and I try to do my best to understand and help where I can.  I'm not very good at that any longer but tried when I could.  I need the help now.  Wow! What a job caring for my husband but he would do the same for me were the situation reversed.

Good morning, @MacDuFF

Well Cuz, it sounds like you've been busy. Cleaning out someone else's home is quite a daunting challenge. You are the person who  can help and I admire that.  šŸ˜‡
I love this week's outfits. You look especially cute in #1.
Outfit #2 is fantastic! I love the raspberry sweater (brings color up to your face). I would wear this entire outfit; it's me.

The cat clogs are adorable.
Have a great week and ****** luck with your new gig. šŸ˜Š

Wishing you the best working with a hoarder.  So glad to read that her safety is your focus.  Two days a week could be very stressful for you, but so helpful to her.

Love the Eileen Fisher sweater.  That's a terrific color for you.

You look great in all three outfits.

Bless you for helping the "older" woman!!  Is she letting you get rid of things?  I used to watch the various hoarder shows and they seemed very emotionally attached to every single solitary item they had saved.  I wouldn't have the patience to deal with someone in that mindset but am thankful for those that can.

@MacDuFF Enjoying your posts as usual and I had to chime in to say I love the LL Bean scuffs!    I actually have an older pair of those with owls on them, they are great and last forever.  Love the outfits too!

So kind of you to be helping out the older lady with decluttering.  As we all know, it is quite a job!  Wishing you the best of luck with the project Smiley Happy

@MacDuFF

Nice casual outfits. I like the navy sweatshirt and berry sweater best.

Good luck with your "gig". Been there and done that with my parents. They were pretty good about everything, including willingness to downsize and move out of their house. They both passed away in 2012. My mother-in-law wasn't as cooperative. Her oldest son (my husband's brother) forced the issue and made her move to assisted living. She's still upset with us 4 years later.

I have a close friend in her late 80s who lacks strength & mobility for daily tasks. She refuses to move from her home. Her daughters live clear across the country so they hired a caretaker who's there 2 hours in the morning M-F. Anything else she needs she calls me or neighbors.

We take her to appointments and errands which is scary as heck because we're afraid she will fall. We've taken her to the ER several times already for falls, infections, etc. She's currently dealing with a serious health issue that required hospitalization and a stay in a rehab facility. When the daughters came to town for that, I talked to them about their mom needing to move in with one of them or to assisted living. No luck. Not going to bring it up again. I just feel it's lot to ask me and the neighbors to handle.

I'm in my 60s. I hope I'm not so contrary if I live long enough to need help. I think I would be receptive to changes because I've already needed lots of help due to chronic health issues as a child, teen, and adult. I'm not opposed to directives & limitations if they help me.
