WHEN I CAN GO “OUT” I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO WEARING.........

NC is opening up to the next phase on Oct. 2nd, if all goes well!! Restaurants will have increased indoor capacity, movie theatres and sports arenas will open (limited %) and some movie theatres w/ advanced ticketing and social distancing.

Obviously, besides more makeup, I'm looking forward to wearing a cashmere sweater, my black slacks (no jeans/sweats), ankle boots, earrings (they've been getting caught on my mask). I want to do my hair...no more ponytails or just a "lick and a promise" (another Southern expression). Hopefully will get cool enough soon for my lightweight black leather bomber jacket...a signature item.

What are your favorite outfits or pieces of clothing that you have been waiting anxiously waiting to wear on your first BIG night out?

Nothing imparticular, it would just be nice to be able to go out and have fun!

I know what you mean regarding the earrings getting caught in the mask.  I have short hair so I like to wear dangle earrings, well I've been forced to put on studs when I go out, I don't want to hurt an earlobe by pulling my mask off in the car !!

We have been able to go out for dinner a few times but there is a slight uptick in RI and MA right now so have to still be cautious.

@Shanus

My mother who was completely and totally from the north/midwest always said "a lick and a promise" as now I say it!  I didn't know it was a southern expression, but then again so much of her delicious cooking was southern style as well.

She had English/Irish/French ancestry, and my grandmother cooked New England and southern style and said those same expressions.

Now that I have watched so many PBS shows from Britain I realize many of her sayings are indeed from there originally, but I have NEVER heard anyone else say "a lick and a pomise"!  I had to explain what it meant to hubby.....

Re: WHEN I CAN GO “OUT” I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO WEARING.........

I'm sad that the days of comfortable outdoor dining near me will come to their inevitable end sometime soon.  Although restaurants in NY excepting the City do have limited indoor dining, among my friends the number who have taken advamtage of that is close to zero.

For me indoor dining now is a definite no.  Since Covid arrived, I've turned 79 and lost 3 people I know to it, so I am picking my risks very carefully.  The statistic released just recently on the relation of positive Covid tests and indoor restaurants was too high to suit me.

Indoor dining, movies, concerts and plays are not in my playbook for now. I don't care if they have opened back up or not. These activities will have to wait for now. Not concerned about makeup or dressing up at this point.  I don't go out in public without a mask and I appreciate all who wear masks and I avoid  those who don't.

I'm from the Midwest, as were my parents,  but "a lick and a promise" has always been used in my family.

We, of course, have southern roots ... and I suspect the phrase made its way north during the "Southern Migration," or even earlier on the "Underground Railroad."

Hmmmm I don't have anything I'm looking forward to wearing out as we don't go out but at home I change my outfits from time to time= I'm not a fancy dresser, I can glam up a pair of jeans from t-shirt/sweat shirt to a fancy MK sweater and jacket and a nice pair of pumps/

I'm born and raised in the south and never heard "a lick and a promise."

We have no intention of participating in indoor dining or any other indoor events until we deem it safe.  The way things are going, it could be quite a while until our lives are normal again.  Hope does spring eternal though, and I’m dreaming of the day this nightmare is over.

I'm not sure going forward if I feel comfortable doing very much indoors except some shopping....no restuarants or theaters yet.

I did go out last night to a nice restuartant (outdoor dining) with some neighbors and it was nice to get out while it was comfortable (low 70s).

I did order some new items....boots, pants & jackets but I will wear them running my usual errands.

As for "lick & a promise" my mother would always say that & she was rasied in NY and we lived in NJ for many years.
