Without getting into the whole body shaming thing, I think that whatever size you are there are bathing suits you wear in public and bathing suits you wear in your own backyard. I don't think I'd wear the one in the OP in public unless I was very young and very thin. That may not be the way someone else, whatever size they may be, would feel.

I used to be tall and very thin as a youngster. I remember refusing to wear straight skirts in high school because my hip bones stuck out. While I am still tall after 50 I put on some weight. I would not be considered obese but I do remember being self conscious about being so thin.
PS: It always just amazes me the way a lot older men walk around at the beach or a pool. Do they actually think the pot belly, saggy tattoos is a good look?
I don't think that they think they look good, but they don't have the hang ups of women. There isn't the deluge of "men style" magazines like there are for women telling them how they should look. They most likely think, hey, I am living my life, doing what I want, namely going to the beach or pool. I don't give a rat's ****** what people think. Actually not being so body conscience would be a blessing.
I still hold to my post that the model did not look her best in that bathing suit. If I saw her at the beach, I wouldn't think anything of it, but this was an ad in a catalogue. She could have looked better.
I have done my share of beach time and still do. There isn't even 1% of the people out there that look like Playboy fold outs or even models. Almost everyone has stretch marks and bulges. It is real life. I am there to enjoy the sun as I am sure most everyone else is. It isn't a contest.

@happycat wrote:MY thoughts are last time I was in a Victoria's Secret store, I had a hard time finding panties in a Large. I am not being mean or snarky, but how easy will it be for plus sized people to find that size in the store?
I used to buy panties for my mom, she is XL. VS used to offer XL in cotton panties only. It did not make sense to me. They don't offer D cups in the store all that often unless it is a push up bra. The question is who needs push up bra for size DD or D? Unless you order online or wait for sale, the selction is not that big.

I am glad you don't make rules. I am a swimmer. And ridiculous swim trunks guys wear here make me laugh every time I see them.

I once listened to marla Ginsberg (Marla Wyne) beat Bobby Ray over the head with skinny jokes through a full presentation! I was mortified for her
I should know, @Andreatoo, but apparently I am clueless. ![]()

Add me to the list of clueless. However, I have seen more than one poster comment negatively when a QVC host says she wearing size XS or XXS. That's perhaps size S or 4 in most stores.

There are big beautiful models and there are big women wearing clothes. A big difference, no pun intended!! Anyone in the fashion industry should know that. I am a 1X and have been 3X and seeing a 3X apple shaped woman trying to be a model does not entice me to buy the clothes!
