I think these styles are great on some young girls, appalling on older ladies. It just points up the fact that they are not young ladies.

I assume you we are talking about about midriff baring tops.. Yes that's the style. Wide leg pants and midriff tops. It's not for me even though my midriff is actually in great shape and one of the better parts of my body. I think I have aged out of that particular look. I think the brick and mortar stores cater to the young who follow fads. It's why I shop almost exclusively online or with shopping channels.

Becareful what you wish for................
I am so happy that wider leg jeans are back, very tired of the skinny jeans and I dont like them as much as the wider legs.
Me too!
my top part is proportionally short. I like my legs to look as long as possible and then I wear shorter tops. The best length top for me is cropped, but not TOO cropped.

I wouldn't mind having a few tops that skim the waist/tummy area in the front, and slightly dip down in the back.
Not too much of a high-low style.
Just a gradual dip along the sides and back side.

If you mean tops that stop at the waist, yes those are too short for me as well. I prefer them to at least cover the stomach area and come down to the upper hips.
I find so many tops here to be very long. I don't like when they are too long either.
These are not like the ones that look like sports bras - they are longer than that. They look like regular tops - for instance -- I saw a really cute white sweater with an Americana decoration on it and I thought - oh, this is great and once I unfolded it, it looked like the bottom part had been chopped off! I don't care for the really long one either but. a happy medicum one is what I go for!

@LizzieInSRQ wrote:@AngelPuppy1 are you wandering to the Juniors dept in the store? I have doubts that crop tops and micro shorts are in tbe Womens/Misses section
When I shop I go to all departments to look because I often find cute things in juniors. I just wondered what you all thought of these kind of chopped off tops. I used to wear those really crop tops back in the day, too. And not only that, but the high hugger pants and jeans!

Cropped tops make me look fat and dumpy. They end at a point that is the worst for me.
They are cute on young people who are skinny and fit. No one else looks good in cropped tops.
I guess some styles of those you could wear a tank top or something under them. But no, they are definitely not for me any more.

That's nice! I have seen some really cute sweaters that are really short like this. I would see them on a shelf and thought I would like one and then after I unfolded and saw how short -- it was a no for me. I am no longer built that way and am too old!

I am not a fan of tops that are to either extreme --- too short or too long! I am with you on pants having wider legs! I quit wearing the skinny jeans, etc. quite a while back. "Skinny" is not a word that is in my vocabulary any longer --- unfortunately!!!

@Shanus wrote:IMO, when jeans and pants began being high waisted, then came the shorter tops.
I like many tops that are cropped on others but on my petite 5' frame, they are hip length. I watch proportions: long over short or tight over loose, etc.
BTW, Talbots, Banana Republic, J Crew and Ann Taylor, although expensive, have a variety of length tops. The clothing is more expensive, but I purchase very little and like the simple styling at these stores.
I guess it is important to offer these different lengths. I am not tall - I am 5 ft. 4 inches but the sawed off tops are not good for me. And I am not really skinny any longer either - or young!
