Update: LOGO x Smiley World Items Arrive

Screenshot 2023-07-08 at 6.05.48 AM.png

I have always been a Smiley fan.

I teach a university course, The Science of Happiness.

Large collection of a variety of smiley buttons to pass out, always.

So, when the Saturday and Monday LOGO shows featured the Smiley collaboration, I ordered many different items.

Some have arrived.

The pullover (I ordered black and the blue):

I am a SMALL in LOGO (take a size 6 in her blazers).

However, this is a cotton pullover, so ordered in Medium.

Medium is just right.

It is THIN. Not a sweatshirt.

(I ordered one size SMALL, but, as expected, it was way too small. Returning.)

I ordered the wild print sweater:

Love the design. However, the sleeves (3/4) don't push up at all and felt loose. Plus the design really dominates; hard for me to imagine wearing it often. Returning.

I ordered two boyfriend jeans (grey and dark):

The jeans are a fabulous fit; soft denim material, love them.

*** However.

The sequined large "smiley" is a problem.

1. You canNOT tell it is a smiley face.

The sequins completely cover the smile and the two eyes are buried. No one can tell what it is.

2. These are NOT patches on top of denim jeans, they are patches inserted into a cut hole.

Can't remove them.

What happens when sequins start coming loose?

The patch holding them is actually white. Not a good look, if spaces happen.

If you cross your legs on top of the large "smiley" you are rubbing the sequins.

{The wee smiley at the bottom is great, face drawn on plain material.}

At $100, now thinking about whether to keep them.

*** Anyone with experience with thick sequin patches on denim jeans?

Other items coming . . .

@1Professor  I like the pullover hoodie and considered getting it.  I like it in the black and the blue.

When I saw the jeans I thought the same thing -- I cannot even tell it's a smiley face.  I wonder why they did it in sequins anyway.  It could have been a cool embroidery or "painted" smiley.  The sequins turned me off.

Thank you so much for your review.  Enjoy your fun fashion!

@Caaareful Shopper

I think it was an idea that got wrecked in the mass making. Lori cannot possibly be happy with that larger not-a-smiley-face.

In my younger life I sewed. Everything. I made jackets, dresses, even a swimsuit once. So I'm good for repairs and adjustments. Just nothing I can do with that sequin Thingy.

This morning—I'm thinking I will definitely return ONE of the 2 boyfriend jeans. Might keep one for informal off hours. The yellow smiley on the back pocket is whimsical [but I never tuck my tops in so it doesn't show].

Re: Update: LOGO x Smiley World Items Arrive

Good morning 1 Professor the pants are so cute
I cannot speak for Logo items because I haven’t seen these pants or don’t think I’ve purchased this brand for some reason so I don’t know the quality

I have 4 granddaughters ages 22-10 that I’ve bought TONS of sequined items , clothes, shoes, purses, backpacks, notebooks, everything that can have sequels , the esp liked the iridescent sequins
Their favorite shopping was the Justice store that went out of business ( it was always so much fun giving the 3 older girls a specific amount to spend there and let them shop in a store that only catered to them , we spent many hours in that store, the youngest missed out , Walmart carries the brand but it’s not the same as shopping in the individual store , sorry I digressed😄)

My experience with sequins is the heavier amount that’s sewn on a garment the more it “ puckers “ and bunches up in the washer / dryer
the sequins won’t move up and down freely if that makes sense ( the girls were constantly rubbing them to make them change colors )
If they are thinly applied they move and sparkle better wash after wash
Having said said all that if they are that thick I’d definitely be concerned the leg of the pants would be pulled badly and actually irritating to wear
Whatever you decide I’m sure your students will appreciate your outfit for the day

@Shihtzursqmom   What a thoughtful reply!

Your granddaughters must be SO fun to shop with, variety of ages.

I'm assuming, here, that with denim jeans I would turn them inside-out for washing, to protect the sequins?

Yes I so enjoy shopping with my granddaughters they are so much fun
I definitely would turn the jeans inside out and when washed turn them back , smoothing the sequins smooth as much as possible and hang to dry
At least That’s what I’ve done with the girls things when I’ve washed them
I know you’ll look lovely in the jeans they are super cute
