Re: Uniforms. Then and Now...

I miss the white nurses uniforms including the caps.  Now everyone wears the scrubs, I don't know who's a nurse and who's on the cleaning team.

More casual, more skin.....unless there is a safety concern.

I must confess, I like the old time, life guard better. He was jaunty looking, with some panache. Today's guard just falls flat

Didn’t realize today’s postmen were ‘underwear optional.’

Dude. Buy some underwear.

Having once worked for an airline, I find it interesting to look at photos of the flight attendants from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

The little hats they wore in the 50's and 60's were lovely.

@sidsmom  Funny, I was just thinking: wish my mailman looked liked that.

Re: Uniforms. Then and Now...

@this is my nic Sorry I politely disagree! I was glad when nurses weren't confined to those unforms and caps. All the nurses I've come in contact with, and their number is legion, love scrubs.

They are more practical, easier to wear and maintain.

I've never had a problem telling a nurse from a member of the cleaning staff.

I don't think anyone under 50 remembrs white uniforms...and those dorky caps.  Not to mention those heavy white shoes.  Yes, they all wear scrubs now but in many hospitals the color of the scrubs tells you who is nurse or a lab tech or an nursing assistant or maintenance.  In other hospitals the color of the badge idenifies who does what.  The problem is, the patients don't know that.
