I am not sure if I have restless leg syndrome or its the sheets. I have been using microfiber sheets and it seems that every set of sheets I put on pill.

I just bought a beautiful 100% cotton sheet set from West Elm and I am hoping the will not pill

Any thoughts or ideas

Also I am posting this here so it might get more attention than in The Home forum

thanks all - ellen

Re: Totally OT - pilling sheets

I've never bought microfiber sheets so can't comment about how those perform. Mine are 100% cotton cuz I love the feel. Don't know the brand West Elm, but hope they work well for you.

Re: Totally OT - pilling sheets

I have looked at sheets on lots of sites, and it seems to be a common issue in the reviews of microfiber sheets everywhere, of any brand. Many complaints about pilling. Must be a by product of the makeup of the fabric. The constant critical reviews have kept me from ever trying microfiber sheets.

Thank you
West Elm is a great store similar to Pier One, its a great place to shop with lots of little things for your home. I have one in the shopping center around the corner and I get in "trouble" every time I go there

I think you'll be good with the all-cotton sheets.

Funny you should mention this..we have a comforter that seems

to be pilling and it is a major nuisance.

West Elm, like Pottery Barn & PB Kids is part of Willliams Sonoma. You can often find items from all of them at the WS outlet stores.

When you have pilling on microfiber, it's because it's a low quality material OR it's not being laundered properly. Microfiber generally should NOT be machine dried, particularly in a gas dryer.

Re: Totally OT - pilling sheets

ellen, I'm a sheet nut! I mean I wash my sheets at home and then take them to my local dry cleaners and get them ironed (with medium starch).

I like them stiff and pressed like they are when you are in a hospital bed. The pillowcases the same way.

It feels so good when you climb into bed and they are so fresh and pressed. I like high count sheets (usually around 600 tc to 1,000 tc). The 1,000 thread count are my favorites although the top sheet gets heavy for my Fibromyalgia and sometimes I can't use it/them.

I have closets full of sheets. Everyone has his or her 'thing'. Mine are ironed sheets.

Re: Totally OT - pilling sheets

I have never tried microfiber sheets since they are made from polyester & I would sleep hot. I love 100% Egyptian cotton. If the sheets are not comfy or pill I'm not sleeping on them. 1 set of sheets we had I tossed & turned so much there was a hole on my side of the bed at my feet.

Hmm I did not know about the gas dryer, I have no room to dry a queen size sheet, so I guess this might be the end of my microfiber years, thanks for the info
