Tops with a "flap" in the back?

I've been watching QVC on and off today and noticed several tops with side slits and a fairly large "flap in the back" (aka fanny flap).

Not a look that I'd ever wear.  I don't mind gradual curved hi-lo hemline - but these flaps are so unattractive.  It's "cupping" the rear on some of the models, and would probably be all out of shape after sittng any length of thme.

I usually make my cardigans wide hi-lo hemlines. But pullovers -  always do a modified modified A-line with shallow shark-bite hemline.

I think I know who you are talking about.  The designer always wears multiple layers and looks like she has a big butt.  My friend and I joke about her clothes being "bag lady chic" .

So glad you commented! Each time those tops appear I think of the bustles of days gone by . . . and wonder WHY would anyone add a bustle butt to any design? My sister thinks it looks like a droopy diaper! We  both laugh and shake our heads.

Either way, it's not an attractive look for 2022-23. Smiley Surprised

@Susan345   I agree... this style just doesn't work for me.  I am too short so the tops would look like maternity clothes.  I also really don't care for the mixed prints worn together.  It just looks odd to me.  🤦🏻‍♀️

Maybe a lot of people like to cover their derrières. I don't care for the longer backs of tops.

I like the high-low flap. What you find unattractive is attractive to others.  I have no hips or behinds so I find these flattering.

Ok...   Now we know what we shouldn't buy you for Christmas.
