I even wear tees to sleep in.  I buy the Time And Tru short sleeve V neck tees from Walmart (they're about $5 each) in various colors in a size about 2-3 times larger than what I normally wear during the day because I can't stand sleeping in something tight or binding & match them to pajama bottoms/shorts that I already have.  Living in the desert SW, I wear these tees to sleep in pretty much 9 mos out of the year & also have some long sleeved ones.

What makes a top a T-shirt?

For me a t-shirt I don't have to layer something over it, is a top. (And for me, a top can be anything from sweater to a blouse to a yoga jacket).

A t-shirt to me is made of a certain type of material and has sleeves. (I prefer long sleeve - I look horrible in short sleeves). I use t-shirts as either an underpinning that is partially visible to others or as an undergarment to keep warm or for modesty purposes.

A top made w/ t-shirt like material w/o sleeves, I think of as a tank top. Of which I also have a ton.

Top or tee shirt --- I like a close to the body fit. I do not typically like a loose fit for any top, as they seem unflattering on my body.

I think I have too many t-shirts!

I have lots of short sleeve & long sleeve tees. Even though they are “t-shirts”, I think many of them look more like “tops” & are nice enough to wear alone or layered under my hoodies & leather jackets. I wear a t-shirt most days since I am retired.

I just ordered & received a few more solid & print long sleeve tees from Kohl’s. They were having a sale, plus I had 30% off coupon. At under $10 each, I couldn’t resist. I really like their Croft & Barrow & Sonoma tees. I probably have about 30 total tees in my collection. 🥴

Anyone else have lots of t-shirts?

Croft & Barrow and Sonoma are my brands at Kohls. Years ago, I purchased many tops, jeans, jackets and sweaters from Kohls on-line. The last few years, I've been ordering Isaac Mizrahi 100% Cotton T-s and Pima Cotton T-s from the Q - which I now have around 25. I have crew necks, mock necks, turtle necks and elbow sleeves --- many different colors. I'm now wearing my gold mock-neck T. It's cold in my house, so I put on my Isaac Navy Quilted Barn Jacket.

I have many many sleeveless shirts. I have some that I categorize as a sleeveless tee and it has to do with the fabrication and the neckline

To me a standard tank has just enough strap to cover your bra and generally a scoop neck or V-neck. Many of the rest are shells

Oh, I don't disagree ... was just responding about how I classify a tee shirt vs a top, yadda yadda. I don't really wear what I would call shell as I have a short neck & a large bosom. I feel a low scoop or a v neck looks best on me.

I'm just happy to find I'm not the only one with an aversion to short sleeves! LOL

I don't really care what they look like on others, I don't really pay attention, but I am very aware of how I look in them

I’m definitely a T-shirt person.  I live in cotton crew neck tees from Lands End.  I wear tees with a ballet neckline or polo shirts when I want to look a little nicer.

@cotton4me -- your comment made me chuckle.  I also live in t-shirts during warm months.  When I want to look a little more dressed up, I put on a polo shirt.  (btw, I also have too many polo shirts!  .... but that's a whole other thread)

I try to be a pajama girl, really I do. But I keep coming back to tanks/tees and yoga bottoms as my nighttime attire.

Recently I was at Target and found some tees that were short. Being short-waisted I think I look best with a tee that doesn't fall mid-hip. I picked up several--ok, 6, I picked up 6 in various colors.  I have not washed or worn them yet so I don't know how they will perform, but they do have the organic look (like Synergy shirts at Whole Foods) that I prefer.
