Once again, QVC has allowed several reviews to be posted when the person hasn't purchased the item. There are 10 reviews with I think it was an average of 2 stars. As I was reading them, it's obvious most of the reviewers don't own the dress.

Ridiculous that QVC allows this.

Wow - scathing reviews. Yes, I'm surprised some of these were posted. The webbie must be out today. HSN has almost gone the other extreme. They don't let you post a review unless you have purchased it, and that is controlled digitally by confirming your ID/account to the order. Additionally, they want customers to wait 2-5 days after receiving the items so you take the time to use or wear it. I'm not thrilled about the time line restrictions. If you receive something that doesn't fit or don't like the fabrication, etc, waiting 5 days won't matter.

They have the ability to control that. I have no idea why they don't.

You shouldn't be allowed to review it unless you actually own it. I don't put a lot of weight to a lot of reviews anyway. People make the dumbest comments...

Oh my goodness; you're right! Read them again, and look at how many reviewers don't use the correct "TOO" not "TO" to indicate amount (excessive). Why don't people know the difference?

Ex. The dress is too short. NOT "The dress is to short."{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

It seems like people don't care for this dress, but I like it a lot!Smile

Most reviews say that the item is too short.

This one is, well, not short enough: "This is a very comfy and cute dress. Why Susan did you not do it in petites. Due to the curved hemline, it does not lend itself to easy hemming. Please remember us petites when you design your clothes. DF"

Then there's the other end of the spectrum [of good review]:
"I bought all the colors when it was on last time, it just had a rounded collar b-4 and I just love them. Glad you brought more back. I wear them everyday, make more colors. Washes up great. Annette Oregon, WI" [emphasis added]

I know!!!! It makes me crazy. It happens for just about every TSV. Look at the reviews for yesterday's floor cleaner. Who are these people??!!!!! All I do is mark it as NOT helpful.

I'd be a little suspicious of someone saying they wore the same dress every day.

ITA that they shouldn't allow reviews unless the customer actually purchased the item. Those reviews aren't intended for people's opinions from just seeing the item on tv.

Evidently, they want reviews even if you didn't purchase the item, since one of the questions they ask on the review section was whether or not you purchased the item. Crazy, I know. If HSN's system is so sophisticated that they not only will not allow reviews if you did not purchase the item, you can't review the purchase for a couple of days after receiving it. Sometimes I think that QVC needs to hire some of the IT staff from HSN. HSN's website is so much better in so many ways. Not perfect, but better than QVC.

QVC used to not allow this. I tried to write a review for a product I had but when I tried to write a review, I got an auto-message saying you are only allowed to write reviews for items you purchased. Then I realized I had not purchased it from QVC.

So, they obviously have changed the system from a few years ago. I'm not sure why because it leads to an incorrect image of the item when just looking at the stars. I wonder why the vendors have not said anything about it. However, it would allow some vendors to write their own good reviews. It's bad business whether it's a good or bad review and you have not even used the product.
