I have a few cold weather running tops that have them, and I find them useful for that purpose. I've never thought of them as a fashion item.

I think they’re ok on casual and athletic wear. I have one athletic knit jacket that has thumbholes. I used them a few times when my hands were a bit cold, but I usually just turn them back and make a cuff. I wouldn’t look for items with thumbholes, but they wouldn’t necessarily stop me from buying either.
