I placed an order at Zara for the some sort of fashion-forward pieces they showed last night, but with free shipping and, if I chose to mail back rather than return to a store, free returns.

I couldn't help but notice last night on HSN - was watching the luggage - that they ran a commercial advertising that the original shipping would be refunded. HSN doesn't let any grass grow under their feet - they are capitalizing on the QVC change.

I know QVC is a business and they are in it to make money. All businesses are and if we don't like one business we can go to another. However, I have always shopped with them because I live in a small town with not a lot of shopping and like the idea of being able to return and only pay the return shipping which used to be reasonable and fast. I guess what bugs me is that businesses think we are stupid. They insult our intelligence. The whole idea of online shopping is that we can try things we cannot touch or feel without a penalty. I guess QVC is doing me a favor raising prices and the new shipping policy. I will definitely save money not shopping here. Their clothing prices are really outrageous anymore. I like to get new things often and don't want to wear something a long time. Also programming is so boring now. Mixers, vacuum cleaners, computers all the time.......I used to turn it on the see things I did not even know existed...not anymore..

I am so tired of these random statements. Unless you are privy to their "strategy" meeting notes, you really don't know.
I come to the forums to read reviews on products and see what's coming. Seems the forums are basically all complaints.
If it bothers you that much, don't watch or buy.
I didn't mind the old shipping costs so much, and at least they refunded the original shipping. But apparently they were tired of listening to people complaining, so they changed it--so live with it.
wow, didn't have to be so mean to the poster. Ever hear the saying "you catch more flies with honey."
Amen. Geez..." if it bother you that much...don't watch or buy" oh, my word....look out below . Can't someone voice their opinion without someone else trying to cut them down in this manner. Yes QVC is in the business of making money, Let's see how this venture goes. If they did not change the price on things on a current wish list...which would be well too obvious...they have to make up the money somewhere right?
Unless of course, they opted for less per item profit with the concept...lower shipping will bring more customers? They heard the cry and changed their shipping on some items.
Yes, lets see how it impacts the bottom line as a bait and switch is not attractive practice, but does work for some. Almost every item overtime has increased in price, often with diminished quality. Sad but true.

AND, they advertise it as a great savings given to their "family" of customers. 8)

Yes, it appears. HSN is quick to react what they realize is a good chance to compete. Obviously, the Q doesn't have to worry about competition with punishing return fees, and raising prices. The Q offers good entertainment for their "family" of customers with reality type selling shows. That costs money

QVC just mixed the numbers up a bit to throw you off and make you think your getting something for less, the cost is hidden in the merchandise, been saying thins now for a long time. Their clothing and a lot of their stuff is getting way to expensive, time to start shopping B&M stores, and elsewhere to save on things, or just do with out.

As I've said a number of times in regard to this type of post. QVC is a business and, as such, the goal is always to cover costs and make a profit. Any reduction in S&H will be covered by an increase somewhere else. That is the way businesses work and, even though, in recent years, some in the public have sort of demonized corporations, there isn't anything wrong with making a profit.

When one advertises Quality, Value and Convenience, even making a profit needs to live up to some standards. And for a "family" operation, clarity and honesty is required in "making a profit."
