I don't seem to have slowed down at all.

We've been retired for the past two years. I surely don't buy as many clothes as I used to buy, but I still keep up on fashion and buy new pieces here and there to look fashionable. I still seem to gravitate toward the "too dressy" look but I have always over-dressed. I enjoy clothes and love looking good.

I retired seven years ago.  I still shop quite a bit but mostly very casual clothing and what I call casual chic for those times I need to look a little more polished.  I go through my closets twice a year and purge items I no longer wear.  I buy items to update my wardrobe once or twice a year.  I try to be sensible and honest when I shop but I will admit I am a slave to fashion and accessories.

I have been retired for a few years now.  Due to an illness and medication I have gained weight.  Had to replace most of my wardrobe.  I buy only jeans, yes and even wear the holey ones.  I have bought a few "casual dressy" tops for church.  I am now in the process of buying  very casual tops.  My shoes include wedgies with 2" heels, tennis shoes and boots and booties, and flip flops.  I dont buy near the amount of clothing I used to and I dont spend near as much on items.

Within a month after I retired, I put all my dress suits and high heels in a donation bag and got them out of my house!  Then did a happy dance.

Even tho I live in jeans, t-shirts, and casual sweaters in winter, I do "refresh" my wardrobe every season.  (I'm seriously interested in that torquoise 'twisted' t-shirt from Nordstrom's in another thread here)   Shoes?  I get a new pair of Naturalizer suede slip-ons every winter, and new canvas slip-ons in summer.  And always have a couple pair of sneakers in various colors.  Eventually I'll need to get new boots, but the pairs I have now will last another year or two.   I spend a whole lot less on my wardrobe now than I used to - which is a good thing.  I don't miss clothes shopping at all!

I saved one good black suit and a pair of black heels to wear for a special occasion -- they're out of style now and I'll need to buy a new "dress-up" outfit this year.  Ugh.

I buy and need more clothes retired than when I worked.  Work clothing was something  you wouldn't wear out to lunch or to go somewhere more casual.  So now I need more dressy casual.  I also have nice outfits because I feel terrible if I'm dressed like a slob around the house.

I still buy two or three new dressy outfits summer and winter in case I need to go to a nice dinner, wedding, funeral or other "occasion".

I still purchase clothes but casual ones but only what I need. I recently purchased 2 pairs of shoes so that's it for me until there is a sale and then I may buy another pair of boots.

I always dressed up for work and thought that when I retired that I would not need any clothes.  What I find is that I buy them in spurts.  I can go several months without buying anything, and then I pick up quite a few things.   I have donated lots of clothes that have gone out of style or no longer fit.

One of the reasons that I dress up is that I do volunteer teaching and feel that I should dress appropriately and also to show respect for the seniors who I teach.  Unfortunately, many of them only see staff and doctors, so I feel that when I go to their facilities that I want to make it more of a special occasion. 

Another is that since I work out a lot and normally am in workout clothes, I like to dress up when I go anywhere else.  I find that if I am home and need to head to the market that I dress up.  I also am traveling more and, again, like to look good.  

The better that I look, the better that I feel.

I retired with my hubby 5 years ago.  I was lucky to be able to retire in my early 50's.  I was a dental assistant for 30 years and funny, I held on to my scrubs until just a couple of weeks ago.  They were in such good shape I gave them to my daughter to bring to her office as she is also a dental assistnat (unfortunately we don't wear the same size) and she let the office staff choose what they wanted.  At least they'll be used by someone.  I guess it was a "just in case" feeling to hang onto them but now I love being home and probably won't return to work at all, having too much fun

And yes, I still buy some clothes, not that I really need them!!
