The power of dressing UP for ourselves.

Fabulous article in W magazine about Manolo Blahnik:

A refusal to dress up simply because you won’t be seeing anyone doesn’t register for shoe designer Manolo Blahnik.

“Don’t forget, as long as we are human, we will want to be decorated—for ourselves; not for other people so much.”

I know on days I don't do anything I feel sluggish and kind of depressed.

Just one man's opinion.

I don't "dress up" or "decorate" myself if I am home all day doing laundry and mopping the kitchen floor. I do shower and dress in comfortable casual clothes. If I'm home and doing chores, dressing up is not a priority for myself.

I am a huge fan of re-jammy days though. After I shower, put on makeup and do my hair lol.

No real surprise he said that. Anyone in the position of trying to sell something (shoes) wants people to dress up...even if they wear his shoes vacuuming.😁🤪

Oh please...if he owned a nudist colony he'd say there's power in going naked.

I don't dress up when I am home and will not be going out for the day but I completely agree that I feel so much better about myself when I do look more presentable.

@1Professor

Thanks for posting this great photo!

Yes, every day I get up, shower, do hair and makeup (less is more these days), and wear something I like, that is comfy for working around house, but looks great even if I stay in all day. If I go out I wear a great outfit suitable to where I am going even if it is the pet store and groceries.

My mood is better if I am making that effort, and why let my lovely casual clothes just hang there, desolate and deserted in the closet?

@1Professor

I know I feel a lot better when I dress nicely,

wear a little make up, fix my hair, and go

out.  I'm not talking about formal wear, just

nice, casual clothing.

I've been dealing with a few health issues

lately, and as I started feeling a little better,

the first thing I have wanted to do is dress

up a little.  It does wonders for me.
